Text: This madrasa and mausoleum, built in 1295 by one of Sultan Qala'un's five sons, al-Nasir Muhammad, has the first cruciform design in Cairo. The Gothic style entrance was pillaged from a 13th century church of St John of Acre during the crusades.

Madrasa Khanqah of Sultan Al Zahir Barquq-Cairo-Egypt

Text: The octagonal minaret has solid overlapping roundels, column-supported galleries and a copper finial. The original dome next to the minaret collapsed in the nineteenth century. The present dome's surface is plain with a cornice of stalactites at its base.
