	Catedral luterana -Helsinki- Finlandia Lutheran Cathedral -Helsinki- Finland   Author: A. De Cara   Text: La Catedral luterana se construyó en 1830-1852, sobre una iglesia de 1727. La iglesia fue dieñada en estilo neoclásico fue obra de Carl Engel. Situada en la plaza del senado (Senaatintori) es una de las referencias mas visibles de la ciudad.   The Lutheran Cathedral was built in 1830-1852 to replace an earlier church from 1727. The church is Greek cruciform in shape, and was designed in the neoclassical style originally by Carl Engel.

Diseñado por el arquitecto Gornostayev, el edificio bizantino-eslavo esta cubierto con un domo con forma de cebolla y su interior está decorado con iconos. Se dedicó a la virgen Mary y permanece un testamento a la influencia rusa..   Completed in 1868, it is the largest Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe. Designed by St Petersburg architect Gornostayev, the Byzantine-Slavonic cathedral is topped with a onion dome and its interior is decorated with icons. It was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and remains a testament to the Russian influence.
