Devonport es la ciudad más cercana, ubicada a poco más de una hora al norte, Launceston está a una distancia similar al este. Hobart está a 3,5 horas al sur.
Se llega al parque por la B12 a través de la ciudad de Mole Creek.

La zona y el parque, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, no son pa los débiles de ánimo dicen
Su nombre se debe a los dos sistemas fluviales principales que discurren dentro de los límites del parque - el río Franklin y el río Gordon. Escenario de una mayores batallas de conservación de Australia, la batalla de salvar el río Gordon de ser embalsado para un proyecto de central hidroeléctrica.
El parque nacional Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers se encuentra entre las tierras altas centrales y la costa oeste de Tasmania en el corazón de la Reserva natural de Tasmania, que fue inscrito como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en 1982. Está dividido por la única carretera que pasa a través de esta área - la autopista Lyell.

Declarado Parque Nacional em 1916 es, junto con el parque nacional de Freycinet, el más antiguo de Tasmania.
Cómo llegar
Al oeste de Hobart, aproximadamente a una hora de conducción vía Derwent Valley, lo hace un buen destino para una excursión de día.

El parque tiene esencialmente dos secciones de visitantes.
La primera, cerca de la entrada del parque, incluye el centro de visitantes, instalaciones para picnic y las famosas cataratas Russell.
La segunda sección se centra en el lago Dobson e incluye caminatas de un día más largas y áreas para esquiar. El espectacular paisaje montañoso y las comunidades de plantas alpinas son una característica de las partes más altas del parque.

Waterfalls Café & Gallery - Located in the Mount Field Visitor Centre, they serve a range of light meals and takeaway options. Also a great place to grab a coffee before heading into the alpine sections of the park.
National Park Hotel - The best (and only) place close to the park to grab dinner, enjoy this historic hotel with plenty of food and beverage options available.
Possum Shed Café - Located in Westerway, a short drive east of the park, this is a warm and inviting place to grab breakfast, lunch or your morning coffee.
Fika Time Café - Located in Maydena to the west of the park, this traditional Swedish café offers a range of breakfast and lunch options along with coffee.
MBP Canteen - Located at the Maydena Mountain Bike Park, they have breakfast and lunch options along with tea and coffee.

Groceries - New Norfolk (40 minute drive) is your best option if you're coming from Hobart with a Woolworths and IGA Express to choose from. The Fika Time Café in Maydena has a limited General Store with the basics.

There are fuel pumps either side of Mount Field at Westerway and Maydena but sometimes services can be down. The nearest chain fuel station is Ampol at Bushy Park, a 20 minute drive east of the park.

There are a couple of great places to choose from to see penguins in Bicheno – Redbill Beach on the western side of town, and Waubs Beach in the middle of town.
Both of these beaches are easily accessible by foot, and all you will need to do is set yourself up with a picnic rug or a couple of chairs before dusk, and watch the little fellas waddle their way home.

El Cradel Mountain-Lake St. Clair es el parque nacional más famoso - la jewel- y visitado de Tasmania.
Aunque en puridad es un solo parque, no se encuentra unido en su interior, cosa wue hay que tener en cuenta a la hora de planificar.
La entrada principal se encuentra en el lado norte, para llegar hasta el Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre, que es donde está el parking principal.
A partir de ahí hay que moverse en shuttle, recogiendo primero los tickets en el Visitors

Estoy intentando ver si hay alguna empresa que te lleve a María Island desde Hobart, tal y como sucede en Adelaida que te llevan a kangaroo Island desde los hoteles o desde un punto concreto de salida.
