From addis ababa Fly to mekele on Ethiopian Airlines then Drive to Hamedela via Berhale. The Danakil Depression can be said to ‘begin’ here. It is one of the most inhospitable regions of the world, but is nonetheless spectacular, full of eye-catching colors, as in the sulphur springs. The desert has several points lying more than 100 meters (328 ft) below sea level. You pass through a small town of Berhale where the camel caravans stop before they proceed to the northern highlands. En route you see many long caravans going to the salt mines and others coming out of the Danakil with their salt loaded camels. (3-4 hrs drive)Over night Camp at Hamedela.
Day 7
Hamd Ela – Dodom
We start early, shortly after a 06:30 breakfast, and drive to Askoma at the base of new Erta Ale. The 80 km distance may take about 6 hrs passing through changing landscape of solidified lava, rock, sand and the occasional palm lined oasis. You pass several small hamlets scattered here and there in this desert land, before reaching Askoma village or parking area. You will trek from Askoma to the new Erta Ale which takes about 4 hrs. Early dinner around 17:00 and trek up to the new Erta Ale reach around 20:00. Camels transport all the camping materials and some food, sleeping materials, mattresses and water, to the rim of the volcano, where we spend the night watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava. New Erta Ale ranks one of the most alluring and physically challenging natural attractions anywhere in Ethiopia. It is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and 1km square caldera at its summit. New Erta Ale is part of the world’s only permanent lava lake and you will spend an unforgettable night on the top of the mountain. The magma flow moved 3.5 kms south from old Erta Ale to the New eruption point. Overnight camp
Day 8
Sunrise at the volcano and Lake Afdera Early morning you will rise with the sun with time to walk around pits and craters. The main pit-crater, 200 m deep and 350 m across, is sub-circular and three storied. The smaller southern pit is 65 m wide and about 100 m deep. You will leave around 7:00 to head back to Askoma for breakfast. You will reach latest at 10:30 am at the camp and after some time to relax you will drive to Lake Afdera the mythical Lake Giulietti (or lake Afrera), a salt water lake located more than100 meters below sea level, in one of the deepest depressions of the planet. Because of the picturesque landscape, it is interesting to visit the salt flats where the Afar people obtain the salt by evaporating the water of the lake. On continue to Hamad Ela, a village with a total population about 500 people. Over night camping at Hamed Ela.

Early dinner around 17:00 and trek up to Ertale at 20:00 hours. Camels transport all the camping materials and some food (sleeping materials like light mattresses and mat and water) to the rim of the volcano, where we spend the night watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava. Day 3 : Hamedela-Mekele
Morning tour Drive to Ragad (Asebo), the place where the localities are mining salt. Look the activity of breaking the salt from the ground, cutting in to rectangular pieces and loading on camels. You drive ahead to Dallol and visit the difference landscape formed by volcanic activity, Dallol + Lake Assal + camel caravans. Excursion to Dallol (116 meter below sea level, one of the lowest places in the world) colorful salts mining, visit Lake Assal, follow up camel caravans and walk with the Afar people. Drive back to Hamedela and proceed to Mekele.
En este recorrido El segndo dia ,desde la base del volcan hasta ahmed el fuisteis fuera pista ¿verdad? despues de bajar del volcan y descansar hasta que salisteis hasta Ahmed ela ¿no?
El segundo dia después de bajar del volcán y desayunar, haces un recorrido por pista pero solo hasta la carretera principal asfaltada, NO todo el camino hasta Amed Ela (por lo menos así lo hice yo con Alpha Ethipia Tours, o World Sun). Lo siento, no recuerdo cuanto tiempo tomó el trayecto por pistas de piedras, arena o lava, que de todo hubo (quiza 2-3 horas, no más), comes a mitad camino de Abalá, y luego a las 15-16 horas apróx. llegas a Abalá, donde después de asearte un poco, cenas y duermes. A la mañana siguiente vas a Amed Ela, montas al militar de turno y recorres las formaciones rocosas de sal, Dallol, el lago Assale, y vas a donde quiera que estén trabajando la sal y las caravanas de camellos.

Hola que tal a todos?? pues yo me voy para alli el martes, que tal el tiempo estos dias?mucha calor durante el dia y el safari? pensaba que la excursion de amboselli seria un poco mas barata, el safari con los del sun palm que tal el receptivo? se porto bien??algun consejillo de ultima hora? de ropa llevabamos casi todo pantalon largo por los mosquitos. otra cosa si no es mucho preguntar os gastasteis mucho en las bebidas y excursiones?? no se si teneis mas consejos o alguna idea q darnos bienvenidas sea jaja.gracias!!!!
llegue ayer de kenya y queria dejar un par de consejos que creo que valen la pena,no se si co mo yo tienes all inclusive ,el todo incluido son dos maquinas de coca cola y dos de agua (por lo menos en sun palm beach),la comida italiana no es ningun manjar alli,la excursion amboselli IMPRESCINDIBLE (140 euros en el hotel) aunque hay un guia en la playa que habla perfectamente castellano y te lo dejara mas barato llamado nicodemus tengo el telefono si te interesa te lo doy,una chaqueta tambien es imprescindible sobre todo en amboselli por la noche.Consejo personal lleva medicinas y ropa que no quieras la propia gente de la playa te lo agradecera sin limites.te recomiendo que conozcas a una chica somali que trabaja en la playa llamada Sara fue en patera a kenia y asesinaron a toda su familia menos a sus dos hijos,se te pone la piel de gallina, dila aver si puedes un dia acompañar a recojer a sus hijos al colegio ( te recomiendo que te gastes 10 euros un comprar unas bolsitas de patatas que venden en la entrada del colegio y te dan para todo el colegio no vas a recibir sonrisas mas agradecidas en la vida de verdad, se nos saltaban las lagrimas a todos). la seguridad es total en el pueblo a excepcion de un pequeño percance que sufrimos nos dejamos una bolsa y un aprovechado cojio el dinero,a la tarde siguiente estaba toda la comunidad reunida, LE HECHARON DEL POBLADO INCREIBLE.si tienes alguna consulta no dudes en preguntarme llegue ayer y lo tengo recientito recientito
Hola juanalora, nosotros teníamos reservadas nuestras vacaciones en el Sun Palm pero al final nos cambiaron a otro hotel. Las críticas que leí del Sun Palm eran bastante buenas, de hecho nosotros nos decantamos por este hotel antes que al Stephanie porque tambien nos lo recomendaron en la agencia. A nosotros, en el paquete vacacional, nos entraban 2 días y 1 noche de safari por el parque de Tsavo Este, que es el más cercano al hotel, pero una vez en el hotel nos ofrecieron ampliar una noche más en el Parque de Amboseli, cosa que si has leído mis comentarios anteriores en este hilo, verás que recomiendo 100%.

hola a todos he visto una oferta a las playas de Kenia en el Hotel Stephanie Sea House o Club Hotel Sun Palm 3* todo por menos de 900 euros .Mi duda si son buenos hoteles y si desde aqui podemos hacer algun safari para ver grandes animales que es mi ilusion.

con el idioma tuvisteis algun problema? me han comentado que italiano o ingles con el guia los dos lo entendemos eso si.

es verdad que de este parque poca informacion encuentro menos mal de vosotros porque sino la verdad que llegaria alli un poco pez.
Y hombre poder ver el Kilimanjaro mas de cerca la verdad motiva mucho y por 100€ mejor,pudisteis regatear o era precio fijo? nosotros somos 3.
Los coches son tipo 4x4 no en los dos parques? y la comida que tal?

Hola didi1982! Pregunta lo que quieras que te informaré en todo lo que pueda ya que de este parque no hay mucha información.
Nosotros tambien íbamos a ir al Sun Palm, pero al final nos cambiaron al Ndovu y la verdad que muy bien aunque el sun palm no tiene mala pinta.
Me imagino que ireis al mismo Lodge (Voi Wildlife Lodge) que nosotros ya que si es el mismo mayorista me imagino que trabajarán con este Lodge (que está bastante bien).
Solo un consejo, si te puedes permitir ampliar a Amboseli HAZLO que no te arrepentirás. Informate en tu hotel al guía local que haya.
Respecto a lo del Parque, Tsavo es muy grande y está dividio en 2, Este y Oeste, vosotros seguro que visitaréis el Este.
Vais a ver muchos animales, nosotros vimos muchos elefantes, tambien vimos cebras, algun leon, algunas jirafas, avestruces, gacelas, muchas aves...
En fin que a mi me gustó mucho pero habiendo visto Amboseli, me quedo con este último aun siendo más pequeño.
Te explico, Tsavo es un paisaje super arido, Amboseli tambien pero tiene más contrastes con partes de mucha vegetación.
En Tsavo nos costó ver jirafas y leones, en Amboseli no.
Ademas en Tsavo solo vimos 2 leones que estaban durmiendo y a lo lejos en Amboseli se nos pasaron hasta delante nuestro.
Aunque esto es suerte, a lo mejor vas a Tsavo y te hartas de ver estos animales, pero solo por ver el paisaje de Amboseli con el Kilimanjaro de fondo vale la pena te lo aseguro.
No sé no quiero desanimarte y seguro que Tsavo no te defraudará a mi me gustó mucho pero claro te explico mi punto de vista ya que tube la suerte de poder ver el otro parque.

Gracias Javiibcn !!! yo voy con Albatour tambien y el hotel es el Sun Palm y para el safari he ampliado al final hacer tres dias/dos noches de safari lo de si ire a Amboselli o no aun me lo estoy pensando supongo que cuando me lo ofrezcan alli decidiremos a ver que tal .El alojamiento del safari me han dicho que ya me lo confirmaran a la llegada a ver si hay suerte y toca alguna tambien con lo de la charca ya que me gustaria mucho. En si mas que lo de los alojamientos lo que mas me preocupa era el tema safari el ir a uno de los mas grandes de Kenya pero claro menos conocido y no sabia si seguro veriamos animales bien, no se como explicartelo no como un safari como estos que se ven en las peliculas ni mucho menos pero que me gustaria ver bastantes animales no quedarme con la sensacion de no ver casi nada, a ti como te fue en ese aspecto?

Hola a todos, tenemos pensado viajar este verano(a principios de agosto) una semana a Kenia, al hotel Alba Sun Palm. El viaje nos incluye 2 dias de safari por Tsavo Este.
¿Hay alguna excursion desde el hotel a Masai Mara? ¿Valdría la pena hacerla?¿Precios? ¿Qué excursión o safari me recomendáis para hacer desde alli, teniendo en cuenta que estamos pocos días y tambien nos gustaría disfrutar algo del hotel?
Por favor estoy muy perdido en este tema porque nunca me había interesado por este destino, aunque cada vez lo veo más interesante y necesito mucha información. A lo mejor este no es el hilo adecuado pero creo que era el que más encajaba para mis dudas.

El hotel está en las playas del Índico, por lo que dudo que tenga alguna excursión a Masai Mara que queda bastante lejos.
La única forma sería desplazarte en avioneta (que es bastante caro), además de que tendrías que hacer alguna noche en el parque para poderlo disfrutar.
La verdad, en tan poco tiempo, no creo que valga la pena.
Disfruta de los dos días en Tsavo y del resto en el hotel. Masai Mara déjalo para otra ocasión

Hola a todos, tenemos pensado viajar este verano(a principios de agosto) una semana a Kenia, al hotel Alba Sun Palm. El viaje nos incluye 2 dias de safari por Tsavo Este.
¿Hay alguna excursion desde el hotel a Masai Mara? ¿Valdría la pena hacerla?¿Precios? ¿Qué excursión o safari me recomendáis para hacer desde alli, teniendo en cuenta que estamos pocos días y tambien nos gustaría disfrutar algo del hotel?
Por favor estoy muy perdido en este tema porque nunca me había interesado por este destino, aunque cada vez lo veo más interesante y necesito mucha información. A lo mejor este no es el hilo adecuado pero creo que era el que más encajaba para mis dudas.
