The highlight of the 2014 celebration: light installation along the former course of the Wall on 9 November
As 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989.
25 years “Fall of the Berlin Wall”
To remember the most significant event in recent German history when Berlin wrote world history many exhibitions and events will take place
One of the main highlights will be a special light installation will be set up on the weekend around 9th November along the former course of the Wall as a "symbol of hope for a world without walls".
Made of thousands illuminated, helium‐filled balloons, a border made of light will run for twelve kilometres across the city centre for the entire weekend: from the former border crossing at Bornholmer Straße through the Mauerpark (Berlin Wall Park), along Bernauer Strasse, past the Berlin Wall Memorial, then to the river Spree near the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie and finally to Kreuzberg and along the Spree to the Oberbaumbrücke.
At five spots, the white balloons will be released into the air as a commemoration of the opening of the Berlin Wall and the peaceful revolution of 1989. If the weather is good enough this wall can even be seen from outer space.
Many others events will take place from late summer through autumn with focus on themes like freedom, the division of the city, the Cold War and the events leading up to peaceful reunification in 1989‐1990.
The Chapel of Reconciliation at the Berlin Wall Memorial at Bernauer Straße will be the site of a memorial service to be held on 9 November 2014 and a ceremony opening the permanent exhibition "25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall".
Berlin visitors will also have the chance to gain some insight into the history of Berlin as a divided city and the significance of the Wall for the city's residents with guided cycling tours along the Wall Trail, visits to the former watchtowers, the East Side Gallery, the asisi Panorama of a Divided City and the many memorials.

Por tiempo sí os da, si con los dos días en Berlín tenéis suficiente. También es verdad que en Potsdam hay más cosas que ver que Sanssouci. No sé cuál es vuestra idea. Pero si es desayunar, salir a los jardines de palacio, entrar o no? comer por el caso antiguo y volver sí os da tiempo (habrá que mirar que no haya huelga de transportes, etc)

Ésto es lo q me ha comentado del free tour por el pago de 3e en el campo de concentración. Pego respuesta aquí:
Hola Vanesa, la entrada individual sí es gratuita, precisamente porque lo habitual es pagar la audioguía. A las empresas externas que ofrecemos visitas guiadas en el memorial nos exigen un donativo no voluntario de 3€ por persona.
Al tratarse de un freetour, nosotros no sabemos lo que vamos a cobrar y por eso lo pedimos por adelantado.
Con respecto a Postdam no he mirado mucho, pero supongo que si, desayuno en Berlín y salir a ver un poco Postdam.

Sí, ya me he imaginado que sería por eso, que les cobran por dejar hacer tours dentro, ya que ellos también ofrecen tour los sábados y cobran eso, bueno, ahora 3,50€ creo. O se los pagas a un guía o a la audioguía... O a nadie, pero entonces te enteras mucho menos aunque hay muchisimas fotos y paneles informativos pero leyendo todo en otros idiomas es más pesado

Y con la audioguía es suficiente? Crees que merece la pena ir con freetour? Será fácil llegar x mi cuenta?

Pues todo depende de vuestro presupuesto y vuestra manera de viajar. Para mí que me hago mayor, aunque siempre me organizo todo por mi cuenta, no hay nada mejor que alguien que te explique las cosas que ves. Por otro lado, nosotros no tenemos problemas en leer en alemán, pero para nuestras visitas la audioguía a veces se les hace un poco bola.
Es cierto que si vais más justos de presupuesto, pues entre el billete ABC, el dinero al guía que por 5-6 horas de acompanyamiento pues no le vas a dar 10 euros. Y los 3 euros de poder hacer la visita guiada dentro del campo. Y eso por dos... Leer más ...
