2 DAY MINI SAFARI." MAKASUTU , TENDABA CAMP Y LAMIN LODGE ".
( this trip gives you a chance to see and experience the real life of the Gambia ).
MAKASUTU ("holy forest")
Makasutu Cultural forest ,the name Makasutu is a mandinka word, which translates into English, as "holy forest".There is a history to this dwelling.Legend has it that tribal was took place in this forest centuries ago. A particular king was also killed here, and his head, crown and thone were all buried in the forest.
The local community avoided the area, for another reason ; the legend also states that the devil lived in this forest! Nevertheless, the owners of this beautiful resort forged ahead and began a venture that would, after almost fifteen years, earn them a reputation as having the best new Eco Lodge.
DAY 1:The Trip including the morning at MAKASUTU CULTURE FOREST,a palma forest situated on the bank of a beautiful meandering tributary of the Gambia River, encompassing many different Eco-systems including dense forest, savana and mangrove. The area is home to many varieties of birds ï؟½onkeys, lizards and deer which you may see on the canoe trip or nature walk - if reallu lucky you may also see baboons.
There is an opportunity to observe local people going about their daily lives in the bush, including palm wine tappers, local fishermen and women collecting oysters from the mangroves.
Enjoy a traditional West African lunch and watch dancers and drum troupes perform on the natural stage, under the shade of the majestic Baobab tree .
From makasutu you will be driven to TENDABA CAMP 1 and half hours, there we spend night and later by 8 dinner will serve.
DAY 2: TENDABA CAMP The camp located nearly 165 kilometres from Banjul is one of the first tourist camp in rural gambia. It is situated on the banks of the river that meanders in front of woodlands, which have plenty of birds bush hogs and other wildlife.
After the breakfast , you will be having boat trip cruise along side with mangrove , if you have opportunity you may see crocodiles , monkey , lizard and bird during cruising and it last for 2 hour.
After Tendaba ,you will return , stopping at BRIKAMA , home of famous local woodcarving market. You wil have a chance to abserve how the crafts are made and possibly pick up a bargain depending on your negotiating skills! Next stop is LAMIN LODGE, which stands on stilts over the creek in the middle of the mangroves, where you will be served lunch and the monkeys may join you. From here you have a wonderful view over the creek and a good opportunity to see many birds before returning to your hotels.
