Tioga Road crews have cut through the Spring Hill avalanche zone, east of (a still frozen!) Tenaya Lake. Crews are still working through deep snow ranging from 6-10 feet on average with occasional drifts close to 20 feet deep. There is no estimated opening date for the Tioga Road.

Well, here's a shot of the lodge from two days ago. Cabin 1 would be visible to the left in this shot, were it not fully-submerged!
Temps have (finally) come up now, and as we move into June the melt-rate will accelerate significantly. That said, June just isn't going to happen for us this year...and the 4th of July is a serious concern. But we still won't fully-know what we're up against for another 3 weeks or so.
*** The sun always wins....eventually ***

This is truly difficult news to deliver...
We have now discovered profound (structural) damage to the lodge building...it has been rendered completely unusable. If and when such is ultimately determined to be feasible, it will require extensive reconstruction to bring it back into service. Obviously, this will take some time to play out.
The cabins by all appearances have fared better. However, our electrical transmission/distribution system for the resort is in shambles. Beyond that, we are faced with the high probability of unavoidable flooding of the creekside cabins and lodge in/over the next few weeks.
IT IS QUITE POSSIBLE THAT TPR WILL NOT OPERATE AT ALL THIS SUMMER. Any operations that might eventually occur would almost certainly be limited to cabin rental only in the late season.
As such, we will be canceling all current reservations through July over the next 48 hours or so. New reservations have also been frozen for the balance of the season for now. Beyond that, any post-July reservation holder is free to request cancellation/refund in consideration of this unforeseen turn of events.
TPR is loved by many. We know this information will hit some rather hard. We'll do our best to keep you posted...but please understand that uncertainty is likely to rule the day for the foreseeable future.
Your enthusiasm for the resort is deeply appreciated.

A trece días, abandona toda esperanza.

...we still have a lot of work to do to make the road safe for travel. There are still three active avalanche zones. We still have to plow parking lots, side roads, and portions of the road that are only plowed one lane wide. And, there is also a lot of debris to remove from the roadway and from ditches and culverts. Please be patient as our crews safely work to make the road safe for you. We'll open the road as soon as we can, but it's still going to be a little while (we don't have an estimate yet).

Tioga Road
June 6, 2017 (updated about twice per week)
National Park Service road crews (plowing eastbound) and Caltrans road crews (plowing westbound) have met at Tioga Pass. Within the park, road crews are working on parking lots, side roads, and portions of the road that are only plowed one lane wide. Crews are also removing debris from the roadway, culverts, and ditches. Three avalanche zones are still active
Road opening is not imminent; much work still remains before the road will be safe to open. The Tioga Road is closed from South Fork Bridge (6.5 miles east of Tuolumne Grove/NatureBridge in the Crane Flat area) to Tioga Pass.

Digo yo.
