12 March 2020, Moscow — Aeroflot has extended the period for passengers to rebook or request refunds at no additional cost, following an increase in call volumes to the airline’s contact centre regarding refunds and rebookings for tickets for flights to China, South Korea, Iran, Israel, Italy, Germany, France and Spain that have been cancelled as a result of the epidemiological situation.
Passengers holding tickets for travel on or before 20 March 2020 may rebook or request a refund by 30 April 2020 at no additional cost.
Passengers with tickets to travel on or after 21 March 2020 may rebook or request a refund during the entire validity period of the ticket.
Due to high call volumes to the contact centre, waiting times can be significantly longer than usual. Given the extended period for returns and refunds, Aeroflot asks passengers to refrain from calling about non-urgent matters whenever possible.
Aeroflot is working hard to increase contact centre capacity and reduce waiting times. We ask passengers to have their 6-letter booking code or ticket number and passengers’ last names ready when contacting the call centre.
14 March 2020, Moscow – Aeroflot has adjusted its flight schedule to destinations in Europe. The changes take effect from 16 March 2020.
From 16 March, Aeroflot will continue to operate flights from Moscow to the following destinations in Europe:
Amsterdam, Athens, Belgrade, Berlin, Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Dublin, Geneva, Helsinki, Lisbon, Ljubljana, London, Madrid, Paris, Riga, Rome, Sofia, Stockholm, Tallinn, Tivat, Vienna, Vilnius, Warsaw and Zagreb. Flights will also continue to operate to Larnaca.
From 16 March, scheduled flights will be temporarily suspended between Moscow and Barcelona, Burgas, Frankfurt, Heraklion, Munich, Thessaloniki and Zurich.
Flight frequencies will be reduced between Moscow and Copenhagen (from 14 March) and Prague (from 16 March) following decisions taken by local authorities to restrict entry for foreign tourists.
Scheduled Rossiya Airlines flights operated under Aeroflot’s SU code from St Petersburg to European destinations including Geneva, Larnaca, Prague and Vienna will be halted from 16 March.
Aeroflot is evaluating the possibility of operating charter flights on suspended routes to enable Russian citizens to return to Russia.
Passengers holding tickets with a departure date from the date of restrictions coming into force up to and including 31 May 2020 for cancelled Aeroflot flights, as well as passengers otherwise affected by restrictions imposed by their countries of departure, destination or transfer (e.g., bans on entry, exit or transit, threat of enforced quarantine, cancellation of visa-free entry, annulment of previously issued visas, etc.), may:
– apply for an involuntary refund and receive a refund of the full ticket price at the original point of sale until 31 December 2020 (inclusive), regardless of the validity period of the ticket;
– make a one-time change to the departure date to any date until 31 December 2020 (inclusive), while retaining the original point of departure, destination and service class, without incurring additional fees;
– change the route to any Aeroflot flight and/or departure date until 31 December 2020 (inclusive). No additional fee will be levied for rebooking, though other terms and conditions apply (e.g. Additional payment for a more expensive fare).
Passengers wishing to rebook tickets may contact Aeroflot's hotline on +7 495 7847242, as well as Aeroflot's contact centre (global free-call numbers available here: www.aeroflot.ru/ ...ee_numbers) and the airline’s sales offices.
Aeroflot asks passengers to refrain from calling about non-urgent refunds and rebookings whenever possible in the coming days.

Europa cierra su espacio aereo a las aerolíneas rusas en represalia por la invasión de Ucrania.
También afecta a los vuelos en tránsito con esta aerolínea.
La aerolínea de bandera de Rusia, Aeroflot, está cancelando sus vuelos internacionales para evitar que los gobiernos extranjeros se apoderen de sus aviones.
La aerolínea insignia de Rusia, Aeroflot, está deteniendo casi todos sus vuelos internacionales por temor a que sus aviones sean incautados en el extranjero por países que han impuesto sanciones a la industria de la aviación de Rusia en represalia por la invasión de Ucrania por parte del presidente Vladimir Putin.
La empresa estatal Aeroflot ofreció vuelos a 146 destinos en todo el mundo antes de que las tropas rusas cruzaran la frontera con Ucrania el mes pasado. La aerolínea de bandera ha reducido a la mitad el número de sus rutas internacionales desde que comenzó la invasión, impulsada por la Unión Europea, Estados Unidos y Canadá que cerraron su espacio aéreo a los aviones rusos.
El cierre no solo cerró los vuelos de Aeroflot a Europa y América del Norte, sino también cualquier destino que requiriera cruzar el espacio aéreo ahora bloqueado. El analista de la industria Rob Stallard de Vertical Research Partners dijo a Reuters que la combinación de sanciones y el espacio aéreo cerrado ha dejado al sector de la aviación de Rusia "similar a donde estaba bajo el dominio soviético".
A partir del martes, Aeroflot volará a un solo aeropuerto extranjero: Minsk, la capital de Bielorrusia y uno de los pocos aliados que le quedan a Putin.
El movimiento drástico de la aerolínea líder de Rusia se debe a los temores de que entidades extranjeras incauten sus aviones si alguno de la flota de Aeroflot aterriza fuera de Rusia.
