Escribo planning puesto que veo que a algunos les está sirviendo de ayuda. Aparte, tengo un par de dudas de si parar en un par de sitios el día que nos vamos (dentro de Arches). Acepto críticas con mucho gusto para perfeccionar la ruta. Gracias!
DÍA 1:(día anterior llegamos sobre las 8 a Moab; dormimos en Riverside Oasis Moab)
• Hoy visitaremos ISLAND IN THE SKY por la mañana.
• Saldremos sobre las 9; no madrugamos más para descansar de anteriores días. Primero hay que cargar agua, comida etc si el día anterior no lo hemos hecho. A las 10 llegamos al visitor center (unas 40 millas).
• To reach the Island, take US Highway 191 to Utah Highway 313 (10 mi/16 km north of Moab, or 22 mi/35 km south of I-70) and then drive southwest 22 mi/35 km. Driving time to the visitor center from Moab is roughly 40 minutes. 38.460264, -109.820445
• Desde el Visitor Center, cogeremos la carretera y visitaremos todos los miradores, en especial Green River Overlook y Grand View Point overlook, así como el Upheald Dome. Haremos dos trails: el del Mesa Arch y el del Grand View Point.
• Una vez pasado el Visitor Center lo mejor es dirigirse con el coche al final del parque para comenzar la visita por el Grand View Point Overlook (a 25 minutos del Visitor Center) y desde aquí deshacer el camino hacia la salida del parque parando en los distintos miradores y realizando los trekkings que parten de algunos de ellos.
Los trails más interesantes de realizar en Island in the Sky son:
• Grand View Point Trail. Punto de inicio: Grand View Point Overlook.
o Longitud: 2 millas/3 km (circular). Duración: 1 hora. Desnivel. 480 pies/146 metro
• Mesa Arch Trail. Punto de inicio: Mesa Arch parking area.
o Longitud: 0,5 millas/0,8 km (circular). Duración: 30 minutos. La mejor panorámica para ver el amanecer.
• Upheaval Dome Overlook Trail. Punto de inicio: Upheavel Dome parking area.
o Longitud: 1 milla/1,5 km (circular hasta el primer mirador). Duración: 30 minutos. Para llegar al segundo mirador el tiempo que se precisa es el doble.
• Sobre las 2, nos iremos hacia DEAD HORSE POINT (20 millas, 40 mins). Es un state park y hay que pagar 10D; y hay que ir hasta el final y no hace falta hacer ningún trail, solo las vistas.
• A las 4 nos iremos hacia ARCHES (30 millas, 40 mins). Allí llegaremos a las 5. Lo esencial es ver atardecer en Delicate Arch, y como suele haber mucha gente y poco Parking lo haremos en dos intentos. O sea tenemos dos opciones; si no conseguimos aparcar en Delicate Arch, vamos a la otra ruta y lo intentamos a la tarde siguiente:
1) Delicate Arch: es un recorrido de 5 km (ida y vuelta) para ver el arco más bonito de Arches. Lo mejor es verlo atardecer, por lo que hay que ir a estas horas.:
• Start: Wolfe Ranch parking área (sino hay otro Parking 1 km más lejos; esto si nos apetece mucho hoy lo hacemos sino probamos la tarde siguiente). Si encontraramos parking, con que salgamos a las 6 va bien; podemos esperar para encontrar sitio.
• Length: 3 miles (4.8 km) round trip Time: 2 to 3 hours
• Elevation change: 480 feet (146 m)
• Take at least 2 quarts (2 liters) of water per person. Open slickrock with some exposure to heights and no shade. The first half-mile is a well-defined trail. Entre Zanzibar y Mombasa circulaba el ferry MS Sepideh, pero creo que ya no funciona.
Lo mas sencillo es ir por bus a Dar el Salam y coger deste alli cualquier barco a Zanzibar. Los horarios aproximados y la duracion estan en la web de turismo de Tanzania: www.tanzaniatouristboard.com/ ...erries.php
