¿No se supone que ahora es época de monzón en la costa este, Samui, etc? Desconozco hasta qué punto es normal que esté lloviendo torrencialmente en la costa oeste, en el mar de Andamán.

El ojo de la gran tormenta ha pillado de rebote pero llover ha llovido en todo el sur....

Gracias por mantenernos informados myaca. Nosotros vamos a phuket el 24/11, con lo que todavía queda mucho para que se calmen las cosas por la zona, pero ya estamos mirando de reojo las noticias climatológicas que vienen de allí.

Parece ser que este año se va a retrasar el final de las lluvias de octubre.

¿Alguna novedad sobre el estado de las provincias centrales?

Yo he pasado en coche por la zona norte-centro de Bangkok y qué decir: espectacular. Además de que era de noche y está como que mal iluminado. El conductor (tailandés) estaba asustado hasta la médula y hasta tuvo que parar en una gasolinera cuando salió del follón sólo para relajarse...

Statement

Thailand is undergoing floods in two areas of the country: the Northeast and Central provinces and the Southern provinces.

Northeast and Central provinces:

The flooding that has been taking place in Thailand’s Northeast and Central regions since mid-October is subsiding. Tourist destinations in the affected areas are reopening as the situation returns to normal. Major ground transportation links have been restored. The flooding is now mainly affecting provinces in the Central region in low-lying agricultural land and areas near major waterways such as the Chao Phraya River. Most parts of Bangkok have not been affected by the flooding other than suburban areas adjacent to the Chao Phraya River.

Southern provinces:

Heavy rains resulting from a tropical depression moving across the south of Thailand has caused flooding in several Southern provinces. The tropical depression has been in the area since Monday, 01 November and is expected to move out over the Andaman Sea within the next two to three days.

The heavy rains resulted in localized flooding in provinces including Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla and Surat Thani. Provinces on the Andaman coast including Krabi, Phang Nga, Phuket and Trang are experiencing heavy rain and minor flooding.

Some southern highways have been closed and passenger train services suspended due to the flooding. Airports are operating normally except for Samui Island, which is operating intermittently as weather conditions permit. Small craft warnings are in effect due to rough water conditions both in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, resulting in cancellation of certain ferry and passenger boat services.

The city of Hat Yai has experienced considerable flooding. Hat Yai Airport remains operational. Authorities are assisting residents and tourists in Hat Yai who have been stranded by flood waters. The flood waters in Hat Yai are expected to subside within the next two to three days.

Other tourist destinations within Thailand outside of these areas have not been affected by the floods. Other transportation links within Thailand are operating normally, as is Suvarnabhumi Airport. Tourists are advised to get prior information if they plan to travel to the provinces that have been affected by the flooding.

• Major ground transportation links in Thailand’s Northeast and Central regions have been restored
• Some major highways in Songkhla province have been temporarily closed, as well as rail services to the southernmost provinces
• Domestic air travel has not been affected by the floods other than the periodic closure of Samui Airport due to weather conditions.

5. Why would anybody want to visit Thailand right now, with all the rain and flooding? Isn’t it better to wait and come later?
• The rainy season is an annual occurrence

9. How has the flooding affected tourist destinations in Thailand’s central and northeastern provinces?
• Ayutthaya province: The ancient capital, a UNESCO site and major tourist attraction, has not yet been affected by the flooding and is being protected by flood measures
• Nakhon Nayok province: Officials are monitoring other waterways including Nang Rong Waterfall, Sarika Waterfall and Wang Ta Krai Park as well as throughout Khao Yai National Park
• Nakhon Ratchasima province: Phimai National Historical Park and National Museum, Huay Narok Waterfall, and the Lum Phuk Chee natural trekking route in the Khao Yai National Park operate normally

• Some parks have been closed and ferry services to islands have been suspended due to the weather conditions, but will reopen once these conditions improve

• The floods have caused the death of around over 100 local people according to the Emergency Medical Institute of Thailand at the Ministry of Public Health

• Samui Island is being affected by the tropical depression that is expected to move away from Thailand within the next two to three days
• While there have been disruptions to air and water access to the island, they are temporary closed as they are caused by weather conditions.
• Things will be back to normal for visitors to Samui Island once the tropical depression leaves the area within the next two to three days.

17. I heard that a lot of foreign tourists were stranded on an island due to the weather – what happened?
• About 100 foreign tourists were stranded on Angthong Island in Surat Thani province on Tuesday due to strong winds and high waves that resulted in boat services being suspended
• These tourists were not in any danger and have been transported off of the island.

18. Is the flooding in the south a result of the earlier floods in the north?
• No, the provinces in the Northeast and the South of Thailand are about 1,000 km apart
• The flooding in the Northeast and Central provinces are the result of a weather system that passed through in mid-October, while the flooding in the South of Thailand is the result of a tropical depression currently passing through the area.

Alguien que este en Tailandia conoce el estado de las carretras entre Bangkok- Chiang Mai.
Mi idea es ir en BUS VIP, desde Mo Chit pero desconozco si hay actualmente problemas en las carreteras por el tema de las inundaciones.

Ya se que tu intención es ir en bus para así ver el paisaje,o eso creo entender;pero tal y como esta ahora el panorama,seria mejr curarse en salud.

Yo estuve ayer en Ayuttaya y en los templos no hay indundaciones. Si que es verdad que con el tren se ven casas inundadas en zonas bajas antes de llegar a Ayuttaya y también se ven los sacos puestos.

Los templos estaban vacios, una gozada pero también muy triste. Las noticias llegan con retardo y son contradictorias.

Llevo tres semanas en tailandia, empece el 17 de octubre por el Norte, solo nos llovió por la noche. El 23 me fui a Phi Phi hasta el 26, y solo llovió una noche.

Del 26 al 29 estuve en Krabi, solo llovió dos tardes-noche eso si a chaparron chaparron.

Del 29 de Octubre al 6 de Noviembre, estoy en BKK y no nos ha llovido.
He visto que la zona del rio, por la tarde sube "la marea" y se cubre de agua un palmo en las estaciones proximas al templo del gran buda yaciente.


Desde España mis padres, me iban llamando para saber si estamos inundados, cuando yo estaba quedama por el sol.

Me sabe mal que la información ( no me refiero al foro) sino a los medios de comunicación llegue tan mal a España, ya que les hace un daño tremendo con el turismo.

Lo unico raro, extrano que he visto es que en el Metro solo en el Metro, hay un arco de seguridad y te hacen abrir el bolso dos militares con metralletas.

Pero no percibo ninguna sensación de inseguridad.

Bueno aquí en koh tao hemos estado 2 días incomunicados pero la borrasca ya paso inlcuso ahora vienen unos buenos días para visitar las islas del golfo

Así es voy en el mismo vuelo que tu somos dos amigos de madrid, y como tenemos el hotel al lado del rio y como es nuevo no lo conozco hace tres años que estube allí pero no estaba el hotel,por eso el miedo que este los alrededores inundado y encima ese día queremos sacar billetes de avion para irnos 4 días después a phuket,bueno a ver si coincidimos en el avion si quieres te paso mi email y hablamos del viaje.

Evidentemente la info es de algún estamento oficial interesado en que no se vengan abajo las reservas turísticas, pero parece concreta, detallada y fiable, al menos respecto a los puntos mas turísticos del país, o eso espero.
Si alguien tiene alguna información concreta y veraz sobre problemas causados por inundaciones en esos lugares que la indique.

Costa Oeste Phuket Khao Lak, tranquilo hasta el momento. Ha llovido mas de lo normal para la fecha pero sin complicación ningúna. La peña de excursión y el buceo 2 días sin salir a Similan por precaución por el parte mas que por el estado real del mar.

Noticias frescas desde Tailandia!

Hola foreros. Deciros que ya estamos en Chiang Mai después de 4 días en BKK y 1 en Ayutthaya. TODO NORMAL Y BAJO CONTROL. Es verdad que el rio viene rebosando agua, pero en BKK todo es normal.

BKK - Muchas chabolas en la orilla del rio estan con agua hasta las rodillas, pero parece que no les importe, siguen haciendo su vida normal. Los templos importantes no tienen nada de agua. Y el servicio de transporte en barco funciona con normalidad. Eso si han puesto tablas y sacos de arena para poder acceder a los muelles q estan mucho mas alto de lo normal.

Ayutthaya - TODO NORMAL. Cuando se va acercando el tren vas viendo campos anegados y cuando te bajas dices, donde me estoy bajando??? pero los tempos de dentro de la ciudad completamente normal. Los de las afueras también y se puede ir perfectamente en bici o moto. Solo hay un par con agua y no son los mas importantes, pero se pueden ver desde el exterior porque son enormes.

El tren funciona con normalidad hasta Chiang Mai.

Totalmente de acuerdo con Alcala_83, hemos estado en el Bossotel Bangkok, cerca del rio, y no hay problemas, si que hay muchos sacos y tablones, pero el rio no se ha desbordado en los 3 días que hemos estado allí. Hemos cogido un vuelo hasta Chiang Mai, por si acaso, por el norte todo bien. Ayer hable con un italiano que vive en Ayutthaya y cuando le pregunte por las inundaciones se hecho a reir y me dijo ?que inundaciones?? así que tranquilos a los que vengais, de momento la zona centro-norte esta perfecta. También fuimos a las cataratas Erawan y aparte de preciosas...Nada de inundaciones!!!
