Guardando el muerto en la casa durante meses incluso años antes de que la familia son capaces al esfuerzo económico de la ceremonia de entierro es praticada en Toraja. El muerto es considerado como la persona enferma antes de su entierro, esto es el camino de ofrecer el alimento y las bebidas todavía son hechas. Cuando llega el momento todas las familias y parientes juntados para la ceremonia de entierro, el cadáver entonces se trasladará a la tierra de entierro y pondrá en un lugar especial. La ceremonia dura durante 4 días o más depende de la clase social del muerto. La lucha de búfalos, la recepción de invitado, el baile etc. no será omitido. La familia de los muertos sacrificará decenas o centenares de búfalos si se trata de un noble.
La mayoría de las ceremonias se hacen desde mediados de julio a mediados de Septiembre. Pero recordad que los sábados, domingos y fiestas nacionales como el dia de la Independencia, 17 de Agosto, no hay este típo de ceremonias.
