El yacimiento romano apareció en 1996 durante los trabajos de vaciado de los terrenos destinados para las piscinas de la estación depuradora.
La reconstrucción virtual del Alfar Romano de “Los Tejares” los trabajos de producción alfarera en los siglo I y II d.C en el yacimiento del alfar romano de los Tejares, a 1 kilómetro de Lucena.
Este yacimiento se caracteriza por ser la factoría de cerámica mayor y mejor conservada de la Península Ibérica.
