Only AUVs and SUVs are allowed to pass through the 25 km long road leading to the waterfalls because it has a steep slope and can be slippery. The total driving time from the downtown of Tak to Umphang takes around 5 hours or 165 km in distance. Along the way, guests can drop off at the Baan Umpiam community to take pictures of houses that are built on the mountaintop. Transportation is commonly coordinated with licensed travel and tour companies. Otherwise, bringing a private vehicle requires a permit from the Umphang Tourism Promotions Office.
The other, more exciting way to reach the waterfall is through white water rafting along the Khong River, which passes other waterfall attractions like Thi Lo Jo and Sai Rung Waterfall. One can experience Class 4 or 5 rapids in the 40 km stretch of the river. The rafting tour takes around 2 and a half hours to complete. After which, visitors can ride a vehicle transport or continue trekking for another 12 km.
Going to the waterfall is not easily accessible, so staying overnight is required on the camping grounds. It is comprised of a ticketing office, a cafeteria, and a shop where guests can rent tents. A camping fee of ฿20 (€0.54) is charged per person and booking reservations can be done ahead of time.
