Requirements for a two-week quarantine

All information on requirements for quarantine is available at www.covid.is/ ...ntine-work Please note that violations of quarantine or isolation requirements are subject to finesor enforcement action from the relevant authorities to ensure compliance.

In the event of an obligatory self-quarantine
A negative test result does not guarantee that an individual will not later be required to self-quarantine if they have been exposed to infection, e.g. on the flight to Iceland.
The contact tracing team interviews those who have been in close contact with a confirmed active case during two days prior to the onset of symptoms , e.g. been within 2 meters of an individual for more than 15 minutes, or those who have sat close to an infected individual on an airplane (usually within two seatrow radius). They might be required to self-quarantine for two weeks from the time of last contact.

In case of diagnosis

Medical examination, treatment or medical supervision of notifiable diseases, including COVID-19, is of no cost to the patient. This does not apply to an elective PCR-test for the diagnosis of COVID-19.

During the stay
All travellers are encouraged to take precautionary measures to protect themselves and others, such as frequent handwashing, use of disinfectants, the two-meter social distancing guidelines, and to respect health safety regulations in place. PCR tests do not absolutely rule out COVID-19 infections inasymptomatic individuals.

Travellers are encouraged to download and use the COVID-19 app Rakning C-19. The app contains
important information on COVID-19 and how to contact the health care service. They are also encouraged to follow information on the official COVID-19 information portal www.covid.is, which hosts the most up to date information and important announcements in several languages for tourists.

Tourists are encouraged to monitor their health. Those who become ill or think they may have symptoms of COVID-19 can contact the health care helpline through the app Rakning C-19, the information portal www.covid.is, through the national online health portal Heilsuvera, by phone by dialling 1700 or, if calling from a foreign phone number, at +354 544 4113.

All travellers are encouraged to maintain a distance of 2 meters as much as possible. Social distancing is an important part of preventive measures and anyone who wishes is entitled to maintain distance.

- Manhattan Midtown
- Manhattan Upper West Side
- Jackson Heights (Queens)
- The Bronx

New York Language Center

Facebook NYLC

Recent graduate looking for a long-term volunteer management opportunity? IHF is looking for hard-working, dedicated volunteers to commit their time and talents for one year in one of our 6 children’s homes and education centers in Indonesia, Thailand and Kenya. Your role will be to manage the day-to-day maintenance of the center’s programs and initiatives alongside an international staff, in the effort to provide a better opportunity for children’s futures. You are asked to complete at least 4 hours a day of local work and 4 hours a day of international work, 6 days a week. The job can be strenuous, but is incredibly rewarding and you will leave IHF with new transferable skills, a better understanding of international NGOs and an unforgettable experience to last the rest of your life.

In Indonesia, we have four education centers in Bali, Jakarta, Medan and Banda Aceh. Our Jakarta center provides a home to a small number of children. All Indonesia centers hold English, Math and Computer classes for disadvantaged children aged 6-17 to supplement the limited Indonesian public education system. Your role would include teaching and supervising classes as well as organizing various activities at the center.

We have children’s homes in Thailand and Kenya. Our Thailand center is a home for seven older children from a nearby hill tribe. Teenagers from this marginalized community come to our center for a stable home and the chance for an education. Our Kenya center is a home for children of various ages from the impoverished region of East Pokot and provides emergency relief to the surrounding community. This is the biggest IHF center, with approximately 65 children. Living conditions in this region are harsh, and we provide basic needs such as a home, food, and access to education for children who would otherwise go without. We also run livestock donation projects and other initiatives to relieve the extreme poverty where we can. Your role in either of these centers would include fostering a familial environment for the children, overseeing their education and managing the various needs and activities in the center.

IHF is a grassroots, all-volunteer organization with no central office, so co-Directors complete 4 hours of international work daily that consists of various administrative tasks. All co-Directors manage one or more of our international task teams such as University Relations, Fundraising, Teacher Training and Media. You will work closely with co-Directors at other centers to manage these teams and will receive unique training in a multilevel, multifaceted system. You will be assigned your teams according to your experience and skills. This work can be challenging, but you will hone your time management skills and learn intimately how an NGO functions at both the ground and administrative levels. Before arrival at the center, you will already become a part of the team by completing pre-trip tasks with our international teams to gain an understanding of the kind of work you will be doing.

Candidate Qualifications: Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential. We value volunteers who are creative and innovative, willing to take responsibility and easily adapt to new conditions and unexpected situations. We welcome applicants with any background, but prefer degrees in social studies, language, teaching, medicine, law, and social work. Experience abroad traveling, working or volunteering will be an asset. We require candidates have 1-2 years working experience in any field. Experience with teaching and/or children is crucial. Each IHF center is a product of its environment and follows the cultural code and norms of its host country. So must our staff. Our volunteers must have high inter-cultural sensitivity and be tolerant to different views and ways of life.

 6-9 months: Co-Director $80 per month

EnvíoAsunto: Voluntariado diverso en Tujereng (Gambia)

Publicado:

• Nursery and primary school
Teachers, teacher assistants and teachers for special needs are very welcome
English language mentor
Sport & Games supervisor
Spanish teacher
Volunteers to work with our gardening, compost and meteorology project with the children

• Women skill center
ICT teacher
Crazy electrician prepared to train the women and ‘invent’ renewable devices for home use
Herbalist with knowledge on how to produce natural make-up, body butters, soaps etc.

• Gardening– an opportunity to learn/teach about food production in a tropical climate.
Gardening; nursery, tree planting, pruning, grafting. The aim is to focus on crops and products which extend both the growing season and shelf-life, increase profits, maximize nutrition, and reduce waste and imports.
General maintenance & clearance
Record keeping & labeling

• Administration, Marketing & Sales – we need people with this sort of talent
Promoting Fandema’s products (produced in the women skills training)
Developing the brand image, packaging and labeling
Developing short films about the project to further raise awareness
