Me sorprendió bastante la cantidad de gente que había por Varanasi. Creo que nunca había estado antes en una ciudad con tal número de personas moviéndose por la parte antigua. Al parecer, también a causa del festival Maha Kumbh Mela, en Prayagraj, a pocas horas de Varanasi.
Por una calle atestada de gente, Dashashwamedh Rd, y sorteando motos y alguna que otra vaca, me dirigí el primer día hacia el Dashashwamedh ghat, para ver la ceremonia del Aarti Ganga. Como mencioné en el correspondiente tema, tuve que pagar 300 INR para ver la ceremonia desde una terraza, porque todas las sillas para observar de forma gratuita ya estaban llenas.
A la vuelta, el agobio casi fue mayor, porque todavía había más gente en la calle y apenas si se podía avanzar.
Al día siguiente, había quedado en el Virtual Experiential Museum Varanasi para hacer el paseo guiado "Secretos ocultos de una tradición vibrante" que había contratado a través de Get your guide por 849 INR (menos de 10€ al cambio).
Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple: junto al ghat Manikarnika, al lado del agua, es conocido también como el templo inclinado, por su desviación. No se sabe fecha de construcción exacta, aunque se cree que es del siglo XIX.
Shri Manikarnika-Chakra Pushkarini: es un pozo escalonado que hay junto al ghat Manikarnika. En la fecha que lo visité estaba completamente sin agua.
Manikarnika ghat: uno de los ghats en los que se realiza la cremación, en funcionamiento las 24 horas del día. Observé cómo llevaban a un cadáver vestido y envuelto al río Ganges para lavarlo y purificarlo, también otro cadáver que situaron junto a una hoguera, o cómo afeitaban al hijo mayor (en caso del fallecimiento del padre) o esposo (en caso de fallecimiento de mujer o hijos), responsable de encender la pira funeraria. Nos explicaron además que aquellos huesos del cuerpo humano que eran resistentes a ser quemados eran arrojados al río, como el coxis, o que por ejemplo hay una serie de supuestos en los que no se puede hacer la cremación (leprosos, niños menores a 10 años, mujeres embarazadas, muertos por picadura de una cobra y sadhus). Aquellos que no se pueden permitir el pagar los al menos 180 kg de madera necesaria para quemar un cadáver, tampoco se lleva a cabo la cremación del fallecido. Vimos unas pilas enormes de madera cortada y a un señor que en una balanza estaba pesando la madera.
Templo nepalí: para construir este templo, a principios del siglo XIX, los materiales fueron traídos desde Nepal. Tiene esculturas de madera similares a las de los templos de Khajuraho (no estuve en esta ciudad). Junto al templo hay un "albergue de muertos", establecimientos que acogen a aquellas personas que creyendo que van a morir en breve, se dirigen a Varanasi.
Templo Manikarnikeshwar Mahadev: en este templo, el lingam, o representación simbólica del dios Shiva, se encuentra varios niveles por debajo de la entrada y los devotos pueden bajar hasta él. Incluso vi como alguien hacía una ofrenda líquida (quizás agua) lanzándola desde arriba.
Aparte de estos lugares de interés específicos paseamos por diversas calles de la ciudad antigua, viendo los bonitos murales de las fachadas, las vacas, los perros sarnosos y los excrementos por el suelo. Por la tarde seguí callejeando un poco por otras calles.

But suppose I somehow came with you. Because I'm the only one who can speak Spanish. But on the second day, my blood report showed that my red blood cells had decreased a lot. voy a Nepal del 2 al 20 de mayo y mi idea hacer el circuito del Annapurna. Yo ya lo hice en 2015 pero esta vez le quería enseñar las maravillas de Nepal a mi pareja. Además parece que han hecho obligatorio el llevar un guia o porteador.
1.- Alguien sabe si con el porteador es suficiente o hay que contratar tambien un guía de acuerdo con la legislación vigente? Hay mucho control sobre eso?

I´ve just come back from a great trip to Nepal and I had the best experience trekking with Avi. He is probably not only the best guide you can find to help you with your trekk, but also an amazing person. But let´s start from the beginning.
I was wandering around the streets of Thamel, when Avi "found" me and approached me. Although it was only my 2 day in Thamel I had already enough from all those Nepali scammers and sellers that come near you trying to sell you ANYTHING (from tiger balm to weed or a trekk to the mountains...). However, the way Avi talked to me was different. I immediately understood he was different from the others that just saw me as some kind of "walking-money". After a few minutes of conversation, he gave me his card and told me to take my time to think about it, and offered a tea to discuss the trekk in case I was interested. I went directly after to take that tea with him and his honesty and good heart made easy for me to "choose" him as my guide for the trekk. The day after he invited me for a tea at his flat and I could see where my money was going. This is not like the big agencies around thamel that clearly have the money already. Here you are helping someone that does his job because he loves it, but also to provide for a family with 2 young daughters. I could see that even though they live in a very humble place, Avi offered me everything I needed. He borrowed me one of his backpacks for the trekk and also told me he would take a hat, gloves, telescopic poles and a sleeping bag that he would carry for me in case I need it. After claryifying the details, he took me to a local place for lunch, where we also met another girl looking for a trekking. Again, Avi was super kind to her and eventhough taking one more person meant more money for him, he talked to me and let me decide if we would take her or not with us. I thought 3 would be better and it would mean more money for Avi, who after Covid struggled to keep his family and house fine. Avi also helped her a lot to find the materials she needed for the trekk and even borrow and carry most of them.

He also help us constantly to get what we wanted and to feel as much comfortable as possible. For the first days, he shared with us some cucumbers with himalayan salt that he bought in Kathmandu. He was also always there to offer his food in case we were still hungry. And even with the other girl, he stayed for the whole time next to her, walking at her pace and supporting her since she was struggling to accomplish the trekk. He was really supportive with her and even when she decided to quit for health reasons, he helped her organising her transport back down, getting her the best service and the best price (I was there when he was bargaining for the price).
The last part of the trekk we did it alone the 2 of us. I cant be happier of having completed the Annapurna circuit with a friend like Avi. With him I felt safe and that I could always trust him. After we finished, I saw how other tourists had many problems regarding altitude sickness. However, Avi took me through the right steps and together we managed to pass by 5416m without any symptom.

Tal y como lo tienes, está bien, pero si quieres alternativas:
el jrpass dices que es de 14 días, lo activaría el día de llegada (y te dura hasta la vuelta de Miyajima, día 15)
con lo cual, tienes estas opciones:
el sábado ese que dices, dia 13 de viaje, puedes ir a Nara y Fushimi Inari... o podrías ir a Onomichi y templo Kosanji, y dejar Nara para el día 16 o día 19...
y el otro día de Osaka, usarlo para Osaka (puedes ver el acuario, o el parque temático universal studios, o la propia Osaka), o usar la mañana para acabar de ver alguna cosa de Kioto o incluso hacer alguna excursión cercana (Ohara, Uji...)
Osaka no queda "abandonada" porque Kioto la vas a ver hasta las 5-6 de la tarde , con lo que a partir de esa hora y hasta la hora de dormir, además de la tarde que vuelves de Koyasan, te da para dar paseos por Osaka... ver Dotonbori, subir al mirador umeda sky, etc.
en Koyasan NO necesitas jrpass, por cierto. Son líneas privadas y vas a tener que pagar el billete de tren tanto si tienes jprass activo como si no. De ahí el consejo de que actives el jrpass el día de llegada y así no tienes que pagar el viaje de Narita a Tokio.
y ahora que me fijo, yo no iría a Nikko. Como dices, 2 días y medio para Tokio quizás te parezca escaso de tiempo. Si es una excursión que vas a hacer por libre y no está pagada, me pensaría si ir o no...

Vuelo via Haneda y tengo incluido en el viaje el transporte al hotel por lo que por eso no habria problema, ves mejor moverme tb por Tokio con el JR en vez de la PAsmo o similar?
Si activase el JR el primer o segundo dia y por ejemplo hiciese lo que me comentas de ver Nara el dia el dia 19 ahi ya no tendria JR por lo que como iria de Osaka a Nara, no saldria muy prohibitivo el viaje en el JR? Sobre lo de Koyasan, lo sé es una linea privada, tb tengo incluido el pase en el viaje.
El viaje a Nikko lo he incluido yo, no es una excursion organizada ni nada, simplemente ley sobre el y me llamo la atencion, luego me puse a prepararme Tokio y la cosa creo q se esta decantando por dejar Nikko para otra ocasión.
Correcto sobre la zona oeste, se me olvidó en el planning que puse eliminar money park, lo importante seria lo que comentas y bosque de bambu.
La verdad es que la opción que me comentas de ver Kousanji el dia que ahora mismo tengo como para Nara y dejar nada para uno de los dias completos de osaka la veo buena idea, solo me surge la duda que te he comentado si activo el JR antes no estaria cubierto desde Osaka el viaje a Nara.
Si hiciese eso tendria para osaka el Dia 15 (cuando llegue de Miyajima), Dia 18 (vuelta de Koyasan) y dias 16 o 19 en caso de elegir uno de ellos para Nara, en un dia completo y dos tardes daria como para ver lo principal?,

Special note: Pls bring pens. Lots of them, especially ones you get for free. There will be Egyptians who will ask for pens instead of money as tips. This is because these people want good quality "foreign" pens for their children to write with in school. I find this very noble, and regretted not bringing more to Egypt.
Day 1: Arrive Cairo 5.30am. Took a airport bus, then public bus [1LE] to downtown Cairo. Managed to make our way to somehow to Turgoman Station [Cairo Gateway]. We got tickets (direct) to Siwa for 65LE/p. Bus leaves 7+pm. Pretty decent bus.
Day 2: Reach Siwa at 5am. It was the Eid al-Adha, so everywhere was booked out. We had to wait to 12pm for people to check out before we got a place anywhere.
Hotels: Shali and Albabenshal Lodge is extremely pretty. The roof of Albabenshal is a place to take photos of the town just before the sunrise.
We didn't stay in Yousef, but its owner Yousef was very friendly.
We stayed in El Kelany. Decent place for about 100+ LE for 3 people.
Food: Abdu restaurant has a convenient location, and serves pretty decent food.
Nour El Waha - Fantastic laidback ambience and great food for reasonable price! Come at night, when you can smoke Shisha, have dinner, and chat up fellow travellers around a bonfire.
Restaurant right in front of Albabenshal: I don't remember the name, but this restaurant serves great roasted chicken at night + camel kebab.
Activities: The standard fare includes dune driving (our driver did some "stunt" driving up and down steep dunes!), going to hot (scam) and cold (beautiful) spring, fossil site (full of ugly broken shells), and finally to watch the sunset. For the adventurous, remember to try out sandboarding!
Day 4: We booked a private 4WD for 3 people for 1300LE per vehicle at Siwa Friends/Tourist Association [check rough guides for address]. Most places will charge you 1500LE. You will need to book one day in advance as military permits (pay separately) are needed. Bring lunch along as there are no restaurants along the desert highway.
The desert view is simply stunning, and we passed by a chasis of a (german) fighter place supposedly from WWII in the middle of the desert.
Day 4 late noon (Bahariya Desert): We reach Desert Safari Home in the early evening after about 8 hours in the car. It's a pretty and clean place, relatively cheap if you book through hostelworld.com. It is run by a father and his son. The son is a jolly young chap, extremely friendly and helpful. His father, however, is a different story. He would not hesitate to conveniently round up/add in any cost not clarified beforehand, and gets impatient if you ask too many questions and show that you are on a tight budget. However, if you are very clear all prices agreed upfront, then it shouldn't be any problem.
Food: It is hard to find food anywhere. You can check LP or RG, but easiest and reasonably cheap option is to dine at... Leer más ...
En agosto de 2017 tres amigos españoles hicimos un tour de 10 días por Rajastán con los servicios de "Make India Tours".
La experiencia fue muy positiva. La empresa nos sugirió una ruta adaptada a nuestra estancia, proporcionando vehículo con conductor y guías en los principales destinos.
EMPRESA: el dueño habla español, fue muy amable y se le veía muy interesado en saber en todo momento nuestra opinión sobre su servicio. Los vehículos eran buenos y con buena climatización. Tenía bonitos detalles como proporcionarnos todo el agua que necesitáramos. Los guías locales normalmente hablaban español y eran competentes.
CONDUCTOR (Ravi Banna): buena persona y eficiente conductor (muy hábil y rápido al volante, lo cual se agradece cuando tienes que desplazarte por la India), amable y muy interesado en agradar. No habla español pero su inglés es bastante fluido (aunque a veces nos costaba un poco entenderlo). Si lo necesitabas, te ofrecía sus contactos en cada ciudad ya fuera para cambiar dinero, alojamiento o restaurantes (aunque si estás dispuesto a caminar un rato o a buscar por internet a veces es posible encontrar mejores opciones). Nos instaba a que dejáramos por escrito nuestra opinión sobre sus servicios y los de su empresa.
En resumen, recomendamos sin duda esta empresa para viajar por la India.

COMPANY: the owner speaks Spanish, he was very friendly, always available and very interested in knowing our feedback about his service. His vehicles are good and well air-conditioned. They had nice gestures such as providing all the cold water we needed. Regarding the local guides, they usually spoke Spanish and were fairly competent.
DRIVER (Ravi): good guy and efficient driver: very skillful and fast (quite appreciated for us in a country like India), very kind and always interested in pleasing (he even invited to have a tea at his home). He can't speak Spanish but his English is quite fluent (although sometimes it was a bit difficult to understand). If you needed it, he kindly offered his contacts in each city (i.e for changing money, accommodation or restaurants), although if you are willing to walk for a while or search the internet sometimes you might find better options. He often encouraged us to post a comment about him and his company's services.
To sum up, we definitely recommend this company to travel through India!

- ir a dormir a Matsumoto vía bus directo que ocupa 2.5 horas y cuesta 3200 yenes o bien con tren JR que son casi 4 horas y 2 transbordos.
Entonces primero se visita Matsumoto + Nagano - cuenta entre 50 y 70 minutos ir de un sitio a otro - el día 13 y Nakasendo 14 para salir esa noche destino Tokyo
- ir a dormir a Nagoya. Sobre 2 h 15 ... 2 h 30 min sin transbordo. Se puede salir sobre las 17:30 y 18:45 llegando a Nagoya a las 20 o 21 aproxxx
Se hace Nakasendo el día 13 acabando en Matsumoto , Matsumoto-Nagano día 14 y de Nagano a Tokyo esa noche en shinkansen directo.
Esta opción permite elucubrar pernoctar en Nikko desde Nagano. Son menos de 3 horas y si hay alojamiento en Nikko a precio razonable pues se puede mirar.
- ir a dormir a Nagano. Algo mas de 3 horas con un transbordo en Toyama, se sale de Takayama pasadas las 17:00 y se llega a Nagano antes de las 20:30
Al revés entonces. Día 13 en Nagano-Matsumoto, 14 Nakasendo y luego a dormir a Tokyo.
Todo es cuestión de mirar las cosas según nuestra propia óptica.
Puede que nos interese acortar tiempo de transporte y entonces toca buscar recorridos mas lineales evitando dar vueltas.
Quizas eso de ir a Nikko directos no "mole" porque pensamos enviar equipaje - eso de "maleta" habría que pensar según el tipo de viaje - y se nos alarguen las noches sin ese "equipaje".
Pero si eso no nos importa uno se ahorra tiempo y quizás dinero evitando dormir en Kyoto o Tokyo para hacerlo en "provincias".
Briconsejo: tener en el ordenador abiertas unas cuentas ventanas con Japan Guide, Google Maps e Hyperdia. Todas las pestañas que se puedan abrir con las diferentes rutas posibles: Takayama>Nagoya, Takayama>Nagano, etc ... e ir anotando en un papelajo duraciones, primeros/últimos trenes, precios de buses con su duración por si la inversión en yenes compensa al mejorar la ruta y darle vueltas siempre mirando en el mapa - Google Maps - los resultados de la ruta. Tener una web de hoteles/apt a tiro para ir viendo las opcioens de pernocta en según que población / según que día.
Briconsejo extra en Hyperdia: modificar los criterios de búsqueda según convenga. Sospecho que hay gente que hace la búsqueda sin tocar "Type" ni "Order".
Suele ser tan conveniente o mas a veces usar "Arrival" que "Departure" así como ir variendo entre "Time" y "Transfer" para ver mejores combinaciones sin cambiar mucho de tren.
La opción "Money" si usamos JRPass no es necesario pero sí puede serlo cuando no lo usemos.
Aumentar siempre a diez los resultados.
Y siempre complementar Hyperdia con GMpas y con Japan Guide.
Finalmente como puse en la respuesta a Xansolo, utilizaré 4 días para verlo todo.
El 10 por la tarde salgo de Kyoto hacía Kanazawa y duermo allí.
El 11 visito Kanazawa durante el tiempo que sea necesario y de allí voy a Takayama para dormir.
El 12 exactamente igual que el 11 y marcho efectivamente a Nagoya a dormir. Es lo mejor y cogí hotel al lado de la estación para salir sin problemas el 13 tempranito.
El 13 ruta Nakasendo a primera hora. ¿Que se llega a Matsumoto antes de las 15:30? Se ve el castillo. ¿Que no? Sin prisa ninguna, cuando se termine en Nagiso sea la hora que sea se plantea, pero la idea es ir a Nagano y dormir allí que ya tengo sitio.

Yawara: si quieres hacer Shirakawago yo simplificaría algo la ruta.
10) Kyoto durante el día y dormir en Kanazawa. Hay trenes directos que en 2 horas 10 minutos o 2 horas 20 minutos conectan ambas ciudades, saliendo los últimos entre 20:30 ... 21:30 ... de esa forma se aprovecha el día completo en Kyoto mientras que en Kanazawa hay bastantes hoteles cerca de la estación sin problemas de horarios de checkin.
11) hasta las 16:00 Kanazawa, 16:00 bus a shirakawago con visita hasta las 19:43 y llegar a Takayama a las 20:48. Si el alojamiento en Takayama permite checkin sobre esas horas veo una solución buena. Mucho rato para visita y unas 2 h 20 min de viaje aunque toca pagar creo que 3400 yenes por persona de buses.

Que va, a mí en Marruecos no me pareció tan tan horrible. Sí que son pesados, porque saben que eres español y hablan tu idioma y no paran de hablarte, y a mí me da pereza eso, pero si quieres algo concreto sin problema, pero para entrar a mirar y todo el rato charlando... pero vamos que no me pareció más que Asia, y para el regateo, China gana por goleada. Tampoco es que compráramos mucho, 4 cosillas, pero regateamos sin problemas, los transportes siempre regateo y todo bien. Lo único como digo, que son muuuuy parlanchines y te reconocen enseguida española o italiana y te empezarán a hablar y hablar... , pero no son tan regateadores expertos como los chinos ni tan timadores expertos como los indios, al menos lo que nos encontramos nosotros.
Ah y lo de que se te peguen para hacer de guía pasa en muchos lados, a nosotros cuando nos ocurre le decimos claramente "No guide no money" al principio y si quiere ir al lado es su problema porque ya está avisado y no vamos ni a hablarle ni a pagarle. En la medina si te ven perdido o sin tenerlo claro seguro que se te acercan, al igual que ocurren en muchos templos o lugares de interés en África norte y Asia.
Hará hace dos años igual no tenian ATM o money change pero ahora ya está hecho para el turista...

In the afternoon, if you want to see Gerupuk island from different angle, go and climb a small hill in the east side of surf camp. From this point, you’ll be able to see the whole Gerupuk bay.

Our esteemed guest forgot to mention that there flight was landed before time & representative from Glimpses Holidays reached on time to airport to pick them up but they left the airport without even intimating or calling us. Although we provided them at least four persons cell phone numbers in case of any misunderstanding.
First of all I want to clarify that the lady who posted these comments was not doing correspondence with us & not aware of all facts during fixing of the tour. For this hotel we have already informed Mr. Luis Egea (person who was doing correspondence with us) in our reservation status with hotel's website & after his acceptance we booked the hotel in Mount Abu. But this Man was sent back to Spain in Jodhpur just before Mount Abu by these ladies & without the man who did all correspondence with us & booked the tour these ladies didn't know any thing about remaining hotels & services booked. Hotel was booked after acceptance of the Mr. Luis & prepaid. Also no other options were available there in their economy budget choice of hotels.
In above point these clients are completely lying. It is to inform all travelers that we provided them Spanish Speaking guide at Kathmandu, & English Speaking guide at Pokhara & Nagarkot as Spanish speaking guides are not available in Pokhara & Nagarkot. Which can be confirm with any Nepal based agency too. We have given them Toyota Hiace in Nepal which everyone knows that very comfortable for 4 or even 5 persons. We have given them hotel in all three places involve in their trip Kathmandu, Pokahra & Nagrkot. We have given them Mountain Flights too with all transfers & we have bill & proof of all given services too, So I am stunned to see how a traveler after taking all services can write against us like above. Further I want to share you all that these clients from day one were very fussy & later very clever too. Even before their final departure they were seeking for huge amount of money as compensation by saying this & that point & threatened us verbally that they will write against us in every forum if we will not fulfill their demands & now they are doing same thing for bad name of company which is not good at all to mislead others.

¡Que sorpresa! he estado de viaje y cuando viajo no suelo entrar en internet y resulta que Glimpses ha contestado.
Ratifico lo que dice Maphalda: el vuelo llegó en hora y nos encontramos "tirados" en el aeropuerto de Delhi, nos fuimos los últimos y perdimos toda la mañana discutiendo con el individuo que tenía que habernos recogido.
Este señor miente con total descaro, yo también comunicaba con la agencia, de hecho fui la primera que contacté con ellos.
Todo lo que contamos es rigurosamente cierto y el maravilloso coche para 4 o 5 personas resultó que hasta las maletas (una mediana por persona) tuvieron que ir en la baca porque no había espacio en el maletero. Tenemos fotos de todo.
My wife and I went to a week safari to Tanzania with "BLESSED AFRICA TOURS & SAFARIS" in June 2014. Our guide was ABEL a great guy that made our trip absoluteky amazing. As he was Tanzanian, he was a well knower of everything in the country.
We visited Lake Natron, Lake Eyasi, Serengeti,Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. The only thing I would change is that I wouldn´t go to Lake Manyara, it´s a bit light if you compare it with the rest of the places.
We decided to make the Safary with this company because their value for money was the best. We were in comfortable Tented Camps for the priec of campsites in other companies and we didn´t take nothing missing.
The lunch wasn´t very nice (picnic boxes as the ones we saw everybody had so nothing they could do about it) but the breakfasts and dinners were really nice.
