Covid-19 disease appeared in Hanoi
A woman in Hanoi who traveled to the Italian epidemic area, returned home on March 2 without a medical report, was confirmed positive for nCoV tonight.
This is the 17th case in Vietnam, ending the 22-day chain nationwide without new patients being recognized. This is also the first case in Hanoi.
Information about this patient was announced tonight at an emergency meeting of the City People's Committee, after the test results from the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health and Hanoi City, patient Nguyen Hong Nhung, 26, resides in Truc Bach ward, Ba Dinh district. This person left February 15 to fly to London, England; February 18 to fly to Milan (Lombardy province, Italy). At that time, Lombardy did not have an outbreak.
On February 25, the patient went to Paris, France, to meet with his sister infected with Covid-19, then returned to London. Four days later, the patient started to show a cough, but did not go to the clinic.
On 1/3, this person got more tired, flying back to Vietnam on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0054, seat 5K, to Noi Bai airport at 4:30 am on 2/3. Because the patient does not have a fever, does not declare health status should be admitted.
On March 5, this person had a constant fever, accompanied by cough, tiredness, went to Hong Ngoc Hospital in Yen Ninh Street, Ba Dinh and was transferred to the Central Tropical Hospital, Dong Anh District. Currently patients are isolated, strict health monitoring in the negative pressure room of the hospital.
The authorities of the city and the district tonight have zoned patients areas, set up points at the two ends of Truc Bach quarter, closed shops in the area. Epidemiological investigation teams make lists of close contacts of patients and close contacts of patients in the patient's home area; at the place of the patient's initial examination; at the 2nd Tropical Hospital and retrospect the entry process at Noi Bai airport of this person.
The total number of people who contact the rings with Nhung, at least have:
- 201 passengers, 4 pilots and 12 flight attendants on flight VN0054;

- 8 close contacts at home, including father, uncle, 5 chores, and a private driver, isolated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases;
- 17 doctors from Hong Ngoc Hospital came into contact with patients, who are isolated at the Tropical Hospital, in normal health.
The area around the patient's home on Truc Bach Street, Hong Ngoc Hospital was sprayed with disinfectant by the local health authority. People living in houses from 125 to 139 Truc Bach street are isolated on site. It is unclear whether the total number of people should be isolated in this area.
The Ministry of Health will soon publicize the names of those who have been in contact with the VN54 flight crew and those who have close contact with Nhung to isolate against virus infection.
The Ministry of Health urges all citizens to return to Vietnam from the affected area, to strictly declare their health prior to entry for medical advice, guidance and assistance.
Vietnam has transferred all information related to the patient's journey to the British and French diplomatic missions.
