Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
Canada has introduced a new entry requirement, known as an eTA, for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. Exceptions include U.S. Citizens and travellers with a valid visa. Entry requirements for other methods of travel (land, sea) have not changed.

Canadá ha introducido un nuevo requisito de entrada, conocida como ETA, para los extranjeros exentos de visado que viajan a Canadá por vía aérea. Las excepciones incluyen a los ciudadanos estadounidenses y los viajeros con una visa válida. Los requisitos de ingreso para otros métodos de viaje (tierra, mar) no han cambiado.

Starting August 1, 2015, eligible travellers can apply online for an eTA. On March 15, 2016, this entry requirement will become mandatory and travellers will need an eTA before they can board a flight to Canada.

A partir 01 de agosto 2015, los viajeros elegibles pueden solicitar en línea para una ETA. El 15 de marzo de 2016, este requisito de entrada será obligatoria y los viajeros tendrán que tener una ETA antes de que puedan abordar un vuelo a Canadá.

Al menos dura 5 años si no caduca antes el pasaporte y sólo cuesta 7 dólares canadienses

Hola! Sabeis cuanto tardan en aprobarlo? Queiro decir, es tipo ESTA? Se solicita por internet, se paga y listo? O tienen que mandarnos algun documento?

Por lo que parece sí es igual que el ESTA en cuanto al tiempo que tardan en procesar la solicitud:

Quote::
Most eTA applications are approved within minutes of applying.

However, some requests may need more time to process. If this is the case for your application, you can expect an email from CIC within 72 hours that tells you what your next steps are.

As the eTA program is new, definitive processing times are not yet available. This page will be updated when this information is available.

Lo normal es que te lo aprueben de inmediato, y si no dentro de las 72 horas siguientes.


Sobre si te dan algún documento, no tienes que llevar nada, basta con el pasaporte, ya que el eTA va asociado a él

Hola!
Viajo a Canada la próxima semana.He intentado solicitar el ETA,pero en el momento de abonar el importe,me da erro y no lo consigo.Tengo entendido que de momento NO es obligatorio.Ademas,he llamado a la Embajada de Canada en Madrid y una locución me indica que no necesito visado,solo fondos suficientes,pasaporte en vigor y el billete de vuelta.
¿Alguien de vosotros tiene mas información que yo?

Hola! Yo también tuve un error con el formulario y no lo pude hacer. Según entiendo, se puede volar sin ese documento y es obligatorio a partir del 2016,no?
Viajo en unos días y quiera saber si alguien lo ha hecho recientemente y si tuvo algún problema por no tenerlo.

Si lees el post encima del tuyo...verás que no es obligatoria hasta marzo del 2016

O sea no tendrías que tener problema alguno

NO es "obligatorio" hasta 15 Marzo, 2016.

Hasta esa fecha es "optativo"

Solo para ingreso por via aerea!

No terrestre y/o martimia/fluvial.

Hola, a mi marido finalmente le ha llegado la autorización pasados 12 días. Escribimos y adjuntamos pasaporte, tiquete de viaje y una carta explicando que habíamos hecho dos solicitudes. Dos días después llegó el mail con el aprobado y 10 días mas tarde le contestaron diciendo que al revisar la solicitud del mail se dieron cuenta que ya estaba todo resuelto. Es decir que la carta y demás documentación no hubiese hecho falta. Simplemente se resolvió mas tarde y no en las 72 horas que indican.

Hola. Misma situación aquí , me ha tardado 10 días finalmente pero ayer me llegó. Por si es de ayuda, volví a rellenar el Inquiry Form alegando que se habían excedido los tiempos habituales de procesamiento y adjunté copia de Pasaporte. Hice ésto justo ayer, y por la tarde me la dieron...
