Tenemos un estupendo diario

Atherton Tablelands: lagos, cascadas y ornitorrincos

Y siempre he querido ver ornitorrincos! Mr. Green así que dejo lo que he averiguado

Atherton Tablelands es básicamente una meseta con una altura máxima de unos 1000 metros sobre Cairns

Eso significa un origen geológico interesante, y de hecho es uno de los atractivos de la zona

Y unas características climáticas y paisajísticas determinadas que la hacen atractiva para el turismo...

Atherton Tablelands es por tanto una región diversa, que cubre un área aproximada de 65000km cuadrados


Atherton Tablelands -Las Highlands De Cairns- Australia - Forum Oceania.


Los principales centros de población de Atherton Tablelands son Mareeba y Atherton.

Las ciudades más pequeñas: Tolga, Malanda, Herberton, Kuranda, Ravenshoe, Millaa Millaa, Chillagoe, Dimbulah, Mt Garnet, Mt Molloy, Tinaroo y Yungaburra.

El río principal que atraviesa la meseta es el río Barron . Fue represado para formar un embalse de riego llamado Lago Tinaroo. Tinaroo Hydro , una pequeña central hidroeléctrica de 1,6 MW se encuentra cerca del aliviadero.

Cómo llegar a Atherton Tablelands

En principio la mayoría de las carreteras dentro de las Atherton Tablelands están asfaltadas -estrechas y con curvas eso sí, lo que permitiría el uso de un coche normal 2WD.

Tres opciones para llegar

- La más frecuente vía Kennedy Highway al norte de Cairns y que pasa por Kuranda en el camino.

Kuranda tiene hilo

Kuranda: que ver, teleférico, rainforest - Queensland

Las otras dos opciones son Gillies Range Road, al sur de Cairns y Palmerston Highway desde Innisfail.
