Day 1:- 26th July 2008 - Arrival in Uganda at 3.45 am,
Optional:- Kampala City tour before transferring them to the airport for check in. There are also other activities in Entebbe like visiting the Ngamba Island for the orphaned chimps (optional 80$ per person), and it can be combined with Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (the former Zoo) There is also Botanical Gardens at 10$ p.p.n.
Day 2: 27th July 2008 - To Murchison Falls NP
Early morning we will pick the you from the Hotel or Guesthouse of your choice and drive to Murchison Falls. Have Lunch in Masindi, From Masindi we drive for 90 kms through the park before we reach Paraa in the late afternoon. Here we will stay and with a cool drink and a fabulous view over the river Nile the evening will come with all the noise of an African night.
Driving time: ± 7,5 hours

Day 3: 28th July 2008 - In Murchison Falls NP
This day we have the impressive launch trip on the Nile to the Falls. Hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, elephants and many birds will be seen!! For the game drive we have to cross the Nile, special are here the lions and giraffes.

Day 4: 29th July 2008 - In Murchison Falls
Early morning the boat will take us downstream to the delta. The place where the Nile enters Lake Albert. This trip of 5-6 hours will show us all the beauty of this national park especially the delta with all the different birds. Here is a good chance to see the elusive Shoebill stork! In the afternoon is a visit to the top of the Falls, a wonderful view.

Day 5: 30th July 2008 - To Kibale Forest
Early morning departure for the journey to Kibale Forest. We will pass close to Lake Albert, on a clear day the view from the top of the Albert rift is spectacular. In the afternoon we will arrive at the top of the Hill overlooking the crater lake where we will stay. The Crater lake is called Nyabikere and it is famous for the frogs, at night they will give a beautiful concert. Some times we also stay in Kibale Forest, sleeping with the noises of the tropical rainforest.
Driving time: ± 8 hours
Simple Accommodation:- Chimpanzee Guesthouse/Banda or Primate Lodge/Simple Banda's (they are self-contained Banda's)
Day 6: 31st July 2008 - Chimp walk
At 08.00 we will start with the 4 hours chimp walk. Also 10 other primates can be seen!! The park is also known for all the butterflies and birds. In the afternoon a walk through Bigodi Swamp (community based project)

Day 7: 1st August 2008 - To Queen Elizabeth NP
Early morning departure for Queen Elizabeth. Via Fort Portal we reach at midday Mweya in Queen Elizabeth NP with a stunningly beautiful view over Kazinga Channel. In the late afternoon we will make a game drive.
Driving time: ± 4,5 hours
Simple Accommodation:- Mweya Hostels (toilet and showers are shared)
Day 8: 2nd August 2008 - In Queen Elizabeth NP
This day is for a game drive on the plains of Queen Elizabeth with thousands of Ugandan kobs, lions, elephants etc. Also on the program is a two hours launch trip on the Kazinga channel where we will see all the animals from the waterside.
Simple Accommodation:- Mweya Hostels (toilet and showers are shared)
Day 9: 3rd August 2008 - In Queen Elizabeth NP
Our second day in this beautiful park. Very early in the morning after breakfast we go to Kyambura Gorge. Here people can go for a 3-4 hour walk in to the Gorge for meeting the chimpanzees. If time allows you will continue to Maramagambo Forest. After Lunch at Jacana Safari Lodge you can go for short and long walks in the Forest. Very nice are the bat caves with enormous population of Egyptian Fruit bats. In the caves live also pythons who are fond of eating these bats!! After you will drive 2 hours to the Southern sector or Queen Elizabeth Ishahsa.

Day 10: 4th August 2008 - To Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast we will drive to Lake Bunyonyi beautiful surrounded by the hills of Western Uganda. Lake Bunyonyi is famous for birds, otters and delicious crayfish. We will stay the rest of the day here, it is possible to swim and try a canoe. Seated on the veranda more then 300 birds species can be seen (bring your binoculars)

Accommodation: Kale-Bas Campsite and Banda's (self contained and breakfast inclusive)
Day 11: 5th August 2008 - At Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi is famous for birds, otters and delicious crayfish. We will stay the rest of the day here, it is possible to swim and try a canoe. You can visit the pygmies, some of the many Islands, or black smith. You can also swim in this Lake.
Accommodation: Kale-Bas Campsite and Banda's (self contained and breakfast inclusive)
Day 12: 6th August 2008 - To Kisoro
Early morning Breakfast and then drive to Kisoro. From Bunyonyi the bad road takes us through a beautiful landscape called the "Switzerland of Africa". We pass mountains, hills and lakes with cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest. On the last hill the landscape unfolds beneath us, in the vast plane of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo the Virunga volcanoes dominate the view. Down is Kisoro where we will stay in the famous Travellers Rest Hotel. Just outside Kisoro, this unique hotel offers a cozy stay for the tourists, who come to see the endangered mountain gorilla. The hotel, built in a somewhat colonial style, and entirely renovated in 1999, has a comfortable ambiance. In the sixties the famous American ‘gorilla-woman’ Dian Fossey visited Hotel Travellers Rest many, many times to do paperwork, to relax or to meet people. Fossey said about the hotel: ,,It was my second home."

Day 13: 7th August 2008 - In Kisoro
3. Climbing Muhavura Volcano (± 8 hrs; distance 12km; height 4127m; elevation gain 1700m; price 40$ pp)
4. Climbing Gahinga Volcano (± 6 hrs; distance 8km; height 3474m; elevation gain 1100m; price 40$ pp)
5. Sabinyo Gorge (± 4 hrs; distance 6km, no elevation gain)
6. Climbing the Sabinyo volcano (Sabinyo has three peaks, you can climb all three in the same walk, you need to be fit!! ± 8 hrs; distance 14 km; height 3669m, elevation gain 1300 m; price 40$ pp)
7. In Magahinga to the viewpoint and Garama Cave (pygmy cave) (± 4 hrs; distance 1 and 4 km)
8. Bird walk in Magahinga (start at 10 AM, it can take up to 4-5 PM)
9. Several bicycle rides on mountain bikes. From 25km to 50km. The hills can be steep and tough!
10. Cultural village walk (with a local guide walking through the land of the Bufumbira tribe)
11. Walk to Lake Mutanda. Visit Python island and go canoeing on this beautiful lake.
AFTER ONE OF THE ACTIVITIES YOU WILL CROSS TO RWANDA RUHENGERI

Day 14: 8th August 2008 - - Gorilla tracking in Rwanda
The day of Gorilla tracking. From Kinigi Guesthouse it is 10 minutes by car to the offices of ORTPN. At 6:45 A:M you will be at the ORTPN Offices for pre-briefing and at 7.00 am you will start the trek after finding the Gorillas you will spend with maximum 1 hour. Physically fit is recommended and after tracking you cross back to Uganda.
Drive Time - 2 hours including the border crossing
Accommodation: Travellers Rest Hotel Kisoro (self contained and breakfast inclusive)
Day 15: 9th August 2008 - To Lake Mburo
Early morning departure to Lake Mburo. This is a small but nice park, the only park in Western part of Uganda with impalas and zebras. We will make an evening game-viewing drive.
Driving time: ± 5,5 hours
Accommodation: Uganda Wildlife Authority Banda's (Shower and toilets are shared)
Day 16: 10th August 2008 - To Entebbe
Early morning we will make a game drive/walk. After a late breakfast the last part of the journey will bring us back to Kampala. We will stop in Mbarara for Lunch and then continue, after Masaka town we will stop at the Equator for Tea/Coffee break and buying souvenirs. We will bring you to the Hotel or Guesthouse of your choice
Driving time: ± 5,5 hours
Day 17: 11th August 2008 -
Day 18: 12th August 2008 -
Day 19: 13th August 2008 - Departure

Yo tampoco puedo ayudarte, he visto sus propuestas de viajes, y no tienen mala pinta, pero lo suyo es que te responda alguien que haya viajado con ellos. Lo siento.
Finalmente salimos para Entebbe el 24 de junio (vía Cairo). Volvemos el 9 julio. Hacemos el itinerario que os comenté, aunque variando la parada para las Montañas de la Luna. Ahora dormiremos en el H. Margarita en Kasese.

Seguramente ya habrás tomado una decisión sobre el itinerario, pero por si acaso, te digo que me parece muy bien como está. Veo que te sobran algunos días, quizá podrías acercarte a Jinja para hacer rafting, creo que no hay mucha distancia desde Entebbe.

Estoy buscando mapas para llevar a Uganda, y he visto que hay dos que puedo comprar aquí: uno de la editorial ITMB, y otro de la Ed. NELLES. ¿Conoces por casualidad alguno de ellos?.
Buenos días, primero felicitaros a todos por vuestro relatos, son fantásticos.
Este verano queremos viajar a Uganda/Ruanda/Congo.
Hemos estado mirando agencias españolas, y la verdad, después de ver lo de Gorilla Tours me he quedado de piedra: poder combinar el Gorilla tracking con la ascensión al Sabinyo, el volcan que en su cima estás en Uganda,Ruanda y el Congo a la vez! Maravilloso!
Sólo preguntaros un poco, a parte de la detalladísima información que habeis proporcionado (gracias Galyna) si alguien de los que viajó con Gorilla Tours hizo alguna actividad en Kisoro, o si sabeis si cabe la posibilidad de combinar Ruwenzoris (según la leyenda, donde nace la lluvia) en plan trekking con el resto imperdible de uganda y ruanda (gorilas, Murchinson, Kivu, etc.)
Pronto escribiré a la agencia, y quiero ver la posibilidad de volar con air Egypt, pasar dos días en el Cairo y luego hacia Kampala.
Lo siento italica, espero que se recupere la persona afectada.

¿Pagaste por adelantado, has hablado con Virgo?
Gracias por tu amabilidad. Afortunadamente la enfermedad no es grave, pero exige un tratamiento con corticoides que impide la vacunación, y deja las defensas al mínimo.
Sí hemos hablado con Virgo. Les pide el 50% del anticipo, y el 75% del valor del trecking. La realidad es que todavía no le hemos anticipado nada porque no nos ha dado los datos bancarios, aunque el compromiso que tenemos con ella lo consideramos efectivo. De hecho, los 5 restantes sí vamos.
El tema es que el seguro de anulación que hicimos sólo cubre lo que contratamos aquí, (los billetes), por lo que no les sirve para esta incidencia.
En fin, un lío.
Ya veremos cómo acaba, pero al menos que valga para que cuando contratemos un seguro de cancelación nos aseguremos mucho de lo que cubre.
Hola a todos he estado desconectado durante un tiempo por motivos laborales y ahora vuevo a la carga.
Lo primero es decirte que siento el trastorno en tu viaje Italica.
Lo segundo que quería contaros es que nos vamos 2 parejas el 27 de julio a Uganda. Galyna quisiera consultarte una duda que tengo:
Me puse en contacto con Virgo y hemos alquilado con ella el coche y el guia conductor, ademas me ha sacado también los permisos para ver los Gorilas en Ruanda, finalmente tenemos que hacer el viaje al reves, es decir, el tercer día tenemos que ir a ver los Gorilas porque no había mas fechas disponibles pero la comedura de cabeza que yo tengo es que Virgo me envió un itinerario al principio y me dió precio para todo el viaje, este precio es superior a los calculos que nos habiamos hecho con respecto a la información facilitada por Galyna, yo se lo dije a Virgo y ella me contestó que era normal pues ella tiene una empresa y tiena que tener beneficios (normal) bueno pues ella me dijo que no pasaba nada que sólo la alquilase el coche y conductor. Ahora yo quiero preguntaros si es posible ir por Uganda y Ruanda sin reservar con anterioridad lugares donde dormir o acampar y comer (podria reservar el día de antes).
No sé que hacer.

Finalmente haremos el viaje sólo mi familia. Sobre lo que planteas no te puedo ayudar, supongo que Galyna sí. A mi me ha hecho Virgo las reservas ya que con los niños es mejor arriesgar poco.
Por cierto, sabeis si es posible pagar allí a la agencia con Visa o Mastercard?
Tu has hablado con Virgo de esto?. Yo le he preguntado y no me responde, me dice que me dará el nº de cuenta, pero nada más.
Italica yo hablé con Virgo de este tema y me dijo que si quería pagar en Uganda debía ser con USD (en metálico) del año 2000 ó posteriores, no con tarjetas, me advirtió de la importancia de que los dolares no fueran anteriores a ese año.

Perdonad, pero voy bastante liada y tenía pendiente contestaros.
Respecto al pago, pagué todo en efectivo a la llegada, como bien dices, en dólares posteriores al 2000.
No creo que os acepten tarjeta, en todo caso una transferencia bancaria, pero eso implica un gasto, así que creo que mejor abonarlo allí en efectivo.
En cuanto a las reservas de alojamiento:
Virgo nos reservó las bandas en Murchison Falls y en Kibale, ya que no hay muchas y es mejor llevarlo reservado para no encontrarte con que está completo.
Ella me pasó los precios por mail, pero el pago lo hicimos directamente en el alojamiento, o sea, que de ahí no sacan beneficio.
También le reservé el guesthouse de Entebbe, que es de su propiedad.
Los alojamientos en el lago Bunyonyi y en Ruhengeri los buscamos allí directamente, con la ayuda de Fred. Los campamentos tampoco hay problema en llegar y acampar.

Hola Galyna, perdon por el retraso, Virgo me pidió 50usd por persona y día sin incluir bebidas ni entradas a Parques.
Yo la dije que sólo queriamos el coche y al guia/conductor y parece que no se lo ha tomado mal, eso creo.
En cuanto a las reservas de las bandas en Murchinson y Kibale que me dices mas complicado, no sé que hacer.
