leaving from kochi, travelling through amazing nature, coconut and bananas, paddy fields, rubber plantations slowly getting to the mountains of the western ghats, approaching silent valley national park i went to spend a few days at the jungle lodge, situated in a coffee plantation, overlooking hills and mountains, breathing the fresh early morning air, watching birds.... what an experience.
going on short walks or on proper trekkings in company of baby, a wise man ready to show subtilities of this magical place one can go to meet people in the many tribal villages living in this area, getting to know about their culture, their music, their way of life.....
then, back at the jungle lodge, sitting around the campfire, enjoying simple but very tasty food.....
a place, where time has no more importance, where to find yourself...... a place where i love to go back to, as often as possible

After suffering so much of the consequences of a whiplash i found great help with ayurveda, in kerala. living here now, i do regulary go for ayurvedic massages and once a year go for a full treatment. my doctor has meanwhile started to offer courses for people who are interested in studying seriously for a minimum of 4 months. at this moment, claudia, a friend from chile, is here, staying with me she follows this course getting an excellent basic introduction to ayurveda. her massages are just making me feel so good. beside the courses in massage, she attends daily in the early morning and in the evenings yoga classes. having her with me is such an enriching experience.

place to relax on the waterfront, boating with no engine, a ecological experience

big banana island

my journey takes me from kochi about 40 km towards north to an island in the middle of the backwaters: big banana island.
it is a place of natural beauty. no way to spend any money on souvenirs or postcards..... here there is nothing for the tourists but the peacefull local life. after a good sleep, i get up before sunrise. i open the door of my bungalow and enjoy the view on the silent waters.
after yoga-class a swim in the lukewarm waters and then an excellent breakfast. by country boat a short ride takes me to visit interesting places nearby, all surrounded by the lush green of coconuts, i have a walk through the paddyfields.
back at big banana island i sit at the waterfront and relax. after long journeys which led me through polluted and noisy places, this is a good place to see another face of india.
