The flames are most dramatic at night, of course, and luckily the forested park is open 24 hours a day, allowing visitors to hike the three kilometers (2 miles, about 45 minutes) uphill along a rough stone path to the Chimera anytime.

My reaction on seeing the flames was that I had been conned. To be fair, I have since learned that the height and strength of the flames depend on barometric pressure, at the time of visiting. However the long and horrendous walk up to the top of the mountain is just not worth the effort. I could produce the same effect from pumping up flames in my garden BBQ

⚠️ Roads Update! ⚠️ 9/14/2022 4:00 p.m. PDT

Ok...that’s enough rain...ok, that’s good... OK THAT’S ENOUGH RAIN!

Another round of storms hit the Death Valley region on Tuesday, September 13. The weather has been a force to behold but has impacted roads yet again.

Multiple storms have pummeled the Park since late July. Road crews are exhausted from clearing, and then re-clearing, the same sections of roads. Below are some updates.

⛔️ The west entrance to Death Valley National Park is closed due to extensive damage to California Highway 190 (CA-190) west of the Park’s boundary. Caltrans has not yet released an estimated timeline for reopening.

⛔️ Most paved roads into the Park are closed. The only route into the Park is from the east, via Death Valley Junction and CA-190.
Visitors can drive only to Dantes View, Zabriskie Point, The Oasis at Death Valley, Furnace Creek Visitor Center and Campground, Harmony Borax Works, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, and Stovepipe Wells.

The NPS road crew is concentrating on Badwater Road currently. Sections of the road have debris up to three feet thick. Shoulders have eroded away leaving unsafe drop-offs. The Park anticipates opening the road from CA-190 to Badwater Basin by September 24.

Y esto me contesta Aegean Speed Lines

You can only travel from Piraeus to the islands if you have one of the following:

– a vaccination certificate (stating that 14 days have passed since full vaccination for Covid-19)
– a negative PCR test performed less than three days (72 hours)
– a negative rapid antigen test taken 24 hours prior to travel
– a negative self-test taken 24 hours prior to travel.

However if you travel from an island to Piraeus or from an island to another island it is not mandatory any of the above.

Lastly each passenger has to also fill in the attached declaration form of health and give it to our crew during your boarding on every route.

We are ready to welcome you back!

All of us at AEGEAN try to serve you in the best possible way every day, having your health and safety as a priority.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been continuously adapting our flight schedule according to the restrictions imposed by the competent authorities that monitor the epidemiological data.

Today, as travel within Europe opens up and restrictions are being loosened, we are excited to be finally able to expand our network and connect again Greece to Europe and Europe to Greece. Therefore, as of June 15th, we start to bring back international destinations and will continue to gradually increase your travel choices the coming days, as to travel you again to your favorite places.

At this new start of ours, we must together ensure that travel remains safe. So, in addition to the extended health and safety measures we have put in place, you should also be aware of each country’s specific regulations regarding your entry and stay requirements at your departure, arrival and transit countries.

To help you plan your next travel, here are some key points of the flight restrictions currently imposed by the Greek Government for arrivals to Greece effective June 15th and until June 30th 2020.

Brexit has cost UK economy £66bn so far, study finds

Britain has missed out on £550m per week of growth since June 2016 refeerendum, according to Standard & Poor's

Brexit has cost the British economy £66bn in just under three years, or around £1,000 for every person in the country, a report has found.

As deadlock in Westminster continues, businesses have slashed investment and around 3 per cent has been wiped off GDP, according to Standard & Poor’s.

It calculated that since the June 2016 referendum the UK has missed out on £550m of economic growth per week.

A sharp drop in the value of the pound has caused much of the damage by reducing people’s purchasing power, S&P said.

Weaker sterling has meant imports are more expensive, with rising prices passed on to consumers.

Enjoy!

...substitute for Pangulasian, now that it’s a private island)
* Tour C: Secret Beach, Hidden Beach, Matinloc Shrine, Tapiutan Island, and Helicopter Island
* Tour D: Cadlao Lagoon, Nat Nat Beach, Pasandigan Cove, Paradise Beach, and Bukal Island

I've attached made a map so you can see these stops visually.

So, what's changing? Well, as of late November 2018, the Protected Area Office has designated Small Lagoon and Big Lagoon stops (both on Tour A) as Premium stops, subject to limits on the number of people who can go there. We also expect that Secret Beach (on Tour C) will soon be designated as a Premium stop as well.

As a result, there are seven changes that have already happened (or that we expect to happen soon):

1. YOU CAN'T DO BOTH BIG AND SMALL LAGOON ON THE SAME DAY

You can only visit one "premium stop" per day.

As of late November, this means that you can either visit Small Lagoon OR you can visit Big Lagoon, but you can't visit both on the same day. At the present time, the two options are (A) Premium Tour A with Small Lagoon, and (B) Premium Tour A with Big Lagoon. This has the unfortunate consequence that if you want to see Small Lagoon and Big Lagoon, you have to "re-do" the other Tour A stops. This is an obvious problem, and our understanding is that the governing authorities are looking into this. Hopefully, we'll get more clarity on a workaround for this shortly.

2. NO COMBINATIONS

Before these proposed changes, you could choose to do a "combination tour" that combined whichever stops you wanted from two tours. As a result, many tourists did a "Combination Tour A/C" and visited the Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon, and Secret Beach all on the same day.

However, going forward, all three of these locations will be Premium stops, and since you can only visit one premium stop per day, you will no longer be able to do that.

Going forward, we actually don't know for sure whether combination tours will be completely banned. But no matter what, you will probably not be allowed to combine tours A and C together.

3. PRE-REGISTRATION NOW REQUIRED FOR BIG & SMALL LAGOON (AND EVENTUALLY SECRET BEACH)

You must now pre-register if you'd like to visit a Premium stop like Big and Small Lagoon.

As of late November, this means your tour operator must pre-register your name with the Protected Area Office if you want to go on Tour A. (We expect this to expand to Tour C shortly, if you want to visit Secret Beach.) To pre-register, you must contact your tour operator and tell us the Name, Age and Country of Residence for each passenger. We will then go into town and register you with the relevant authority. Only a certain number of pre-registered people on a pre-registered boat can go inside each lagoon on a given day, and it's first-come-first-served to get access.

If a given premium tour has hit its limit, you will have to select a non-premium tour that doesn't have a premium stop.

4. EXTRA FEE BEYOND ETDF

The Protected Area Office is charging a ₱200 per-person fee for pre-registration to visit a Premium stop. As I understand it, this money will go towards the resources necessary to protect the lagoons and the protected area.

This fee will be in addition to the ₱200 charge for your ETDF (Eco-Tourism Development Fee).

5. PREMIUM STOPS NOW HAVE TIME SLOTS

Your tour operator has to register you for a specific time slot at a premium stop. These slots start at 7 AM and the last entry is at 4...

Soft sleeper compartments consist of 4 beds and have some privacy since, unlike hard sleepers, there is a door and it can be locked. The only way to get a whole compartment to yourself is to buy all four tickets. However, individuals cannot have more than one ticket per train. There is one exception. In the case of D overnight trains, it is possible for a single traveler, a couple or three passengers to buy the whole soft sleeper compartment. To do so, you must buy all 4 tickets.

It is not possible. The system assigns beds and seats in sequential manner, so we cannot choose.".

Vietnam is an astonishing mix of natural highlights and cultural diversity. The scenery ranges from jagged peaks seen from winding mountain passes down to verdant paddy fields painted every shade of green in the palette, while the nation's long history and amazing number of ethnic minorities mean that culture-vultures will find plenty to admire. Hikers, bikers, and outdoor lovers can get their teeth into the countryside within the numerous national parks, while the spectacular karst seascape of Halong Bay is one natural sight that even the more slothful can experience up close on a cruise. While the rural areas brim with fantastic panoramas, the big cities breathe with contemporary life and provide ample opportunities to get stuck into Vietnam's tasty culinary highlights. This fascinating country is full of surprises and is one of Southeast Asia's most underrated destinations. This article will introduce best places where to go in Vietnam.

1. Halong Bay

The karst seascape of Halong Bay is one of the world's most spellbinding sea views and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thousands of limestone islands sit within this bay in the Gulf of Tonkin, eroded into jagged pinnacles by wind and water action over millennia. With the bay's scenery best seen by boat, this is prime cruising territory. Opt for at least an overnight tour to see Halong Bay's iconic views as a day trip doesn't do it justice. There are plenty of caves in the bay that can be entered including the Hang Sung Sot, with three mammoth caverns, and the Hang Dao Go, with superbly weird stalagmites and stalactites. For most people though, the highlight is simply cruising amid the karsts and soaking up the changing scenery of pinnacles as you pass by. You should book Halong bay trips from Hanoi or Halong cruise tours such as Royal Palace cruise Halong, Victory cruise Halong bay,... to enjoy fully the beauty of the bay. (https://www.halongbaytours.com.vn/en/)

2. Ho Chi Minh City

For big city fans, no visit to Vietnam is really complete without a visit to Ho Chi Minh City, the buzzing and crazy commercial hub of the country. The streets are an insane clog of motorbikes and cars, the restaurant and cafe scene is incredibly cosmopolitan, and the shopping is the best you'll find in the country. At its center is Dong Khoi, a relatively small and easily navigable central district, which holds most of the city's sights. Here, you'll find the HCMC Museum, with a brilliant collection of artefacts that weaves together the story of the city, and the grand Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 19th century. Check out the old district of Da Kao nearby for some of the best surviving examples of the city's French colonial architecture and also to visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda with its dazzling array of Buddhist and Taoist religious iconography. Afterwards, the History Museum is a must-do for history fans with stacks of relics on display from various archaeological sites.

For many visitors, the two big hitter attractions not to miss are just a little out of the center, along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. The Reunification Palace, then known as Independence Palace, was the residence for South...

ASUNTO: REPETEAD FAIL AT PROCESSING CREDIT CARDS

Good afternoon

I have been trying to buy Jordan Pass since 24 hours ago. It is impossible to buy because the web fails repeatedly at processing credit cards. The fail is not due to my credit card (I have tried three differents credits cards) nor the browser (I have tried three: Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Google Chrome). I also sent an on-line message reporting the fail that has not been answered. I will travel to Jordan tomorrow and I can not buy the pass anyway. I am extremely dissappointed with the dreadful performance of the web and with the total absence of response.

I just spoke with Miguel, my boyfriend who was stranded in Syabru Besi. He was rescued today. He was on a helicopter with a lot of french people, but he doesn't know their names. He told me that when he left Bengt and Sara Olsson were still in Syabru Besi. Paulina Guzman and Marc Laterreur were also still there. He believes that two Australians, Erin Carol and Ben Bardas, had already made it out on an earlier. He said there were three other Australian teenage boys there. He didn't know their names but he thought that one of their mothers was in contact with them and trying to get them out. He also said there were a couple of Spanish people and a large group of Israeli's but he didn't know any of their names. He thought that the Israeli's were in contact with someone about getting out but he isn't sure. He didn't know about the Spanish people. I asked him about everyone who posted on my last comment and he didn't recognize any of the names. He hasn't seen Sydney or Bailey since before the earthquake and I am talking to Diane Schumacher about when he saw them then. I'm sorry that I don't have more information. He said that he had been staying with a local family and only really saw the other trekkers when the helicopters came, so he didn't get too many names.

BEWARE AMOMA. For our family it: 5 members of the family went to Rome to spend a pleasant journey and hired in Amoma (big mistake) hotel in Rome. Arriving at the address at the time of arrival (22.30 PM) where it should be the hotel, there was nothing. One man told us that there was no hotel since long time ago. However Amoma didn´t tell nothing before. Amoma service was lamentable, leaving for hours on the street in the night, we had to take telephone charges (Italy-Spain) and taxis and finally had to go to a hotel that was several kilometers from there. We did not know where we were, because we did not know Roma nor knew Italian and it was in the night. We had to take two taxis because we were 5 people. And the same coming back from hotel to airport. The second hotel, the rooms were for a person less than the contracted and had to walk up and down three floors every day because the elevator was not working. It was an old hotel. This was a problem for our parents who already 60 years.
The whole incident was very traumatic and lasted several hours. Later we ask to Amoma to solve the problem as one who sells and gets the benefit of the hotels. However they are giving me long long time without offering any solution. That is why we have decided to present the gratuitous suffering that we did spend Amoma and to let people know what you risk and do not happen the same thing to us. Probably we claim them although the company is in Switzerland's why it's more complicated as experts lawyers in private international law say.

...Flat Road east of Big Oak Flat Entrance, the Merced Grove has about two dozen mature giant sequoias. Sequoias are only visible after a 1.5-mile hike with 500 feet of elevation loss. (The 1.5-mile hike back to the parking lot gains 500 feet and is strenuous.) The drive takes about 1.5 hours from South Entrance. Parking is extremely limited.

Nelder Grove
Sierra National Forest

The Nelder Grove of Giant Sequoias is a 1,540-acre tract in the Sierra National Forest containing 106 mature giant sequoias intermingled in a forest of second growth pine, fir and incense cedar. Located in the center of the sequoia range, south of Yosemite National Park, the grove has been managed as an historical site, preserving the uniqueness and historical significance of the giant sequoias and what has occurred beneath their branches.

Directions
The road to the Nelder Grove is unpaved and not recommended for low-clearance vehicles, buses, RVs, or trailers. Parking is very limited and no services are available.
From Yosemite’s South Entrance, head south on Highway 41 to Sky Ranch Road (6S10), which is also Forest Road 10, travel 6.6 miles, then turn left on 6S47Y. Then, go 1.2 miles to the fork in the road and continue right on 6S90 for 0.3 miles. Then turn left at Nelder Grove campground sign and travel 0.5 miles to Nelder Grove. The drive takes about an hour.

North and South Calaveras Groves
Calaveras Big Trees State Park

Calaveras became a state park in 1931 to preserve the North Grove of giant sequoias. This grove includes the "Discovery Tree," also known as the "Big Stump," the first Sierra redwood noted by Augustus T. Dowd in 1852. This area has been a major tourist attraction ever since, and is considered the longest continuously operated tourist facility in California. Wheelchair-accessible trails are available.

Directions
From Yosemite’s Big Oak Flat Entrance, take Highway 120 west to its junction with Highway 49. Take Highway 49 north, through Sonora, to Angels Camp, then take Highway 4 east to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. This drive takes about a two hours.

Brúarfoss is a beautiful waterfall but can be difficult and frustrating to find.
Nearly everyone we have talked to who has tried to find it has gotten lost or
has had to try multiple times to locate it, even with access to GPS coordinates.
Brúarfoss is located near a residential neighborhood of vacation homes and
the residents are not particularly welcoming to those seeking to find the
waterfall. Since the first time we visited in 2012, two of the three access roads
into the neighborhood have been gated. If you are uncomfortable walking or
driving through a neighborhood where you are not terribly welcome, where
the division between public and private property is ambiguous, or with hiking
through an area with no helpful signs and few obvious waypoints, you might
want to skip this location. If you do want to find Brúarfoss, allow sufficient
time to find it for the first time – you will likely need it!
There multiple ways to locate the waterfall and we will summarize two,
both of which have difficulties. To get to the general area from the town of
Laugarvatn (between Þingvellir and Geysir) continue north on Route 37 for
approximately 13.5 km and you will cross the bridge spanning the Brúar River.
From here, your options include:

Option 1: From Route 37, park near the bridge spanning the Brúar River.
Facing the river to the north, start navigating up the right side of the river.
You will come to an occasional path through patches of dense brush, plus
some muddy and steep sections. You will pass two other waterfalls along the
way. You will know you have reached Brúarfoss when you get to a wooden
footbridge over the river just below the falls (64.264305, -20.515338). Be
prepared for route-finding, bushwhacking, and messy hiking. Expect that it
will take you at least 45 minutes to reach Brúarfoss from the road.

Option 2: From the bridge over the Brúar River on Route 37, take the third left
turn approximately 2.3 km later into the residential neighborhood. You may
encounter a gate. If the road is gated, park here and walk. Whether you walk
or drive, head up this road to the north for another 1.6 km (keeping left at any
fork) until you reach 64.26235, -20.50825, a small grassy area on the right side
of the road. If you have managed to drive to this spot, this is a good place to
park away from the houses and driveways.
From the grassy area, you may be able to see a wooden footbridge to the
west about 150 meters away (not necessarily straight ahead depending on
how you have parked; while you are facing west, be...
