He viajado varias veces con KLM a países africanos, es una buena compañía. De hecho, ahora también voy a viajar con ellos a Malasia.
Son aviones cómodos, con un espacio entre asiento aceptable, pantalla en el asiento delantero, y comida bien (para ser catering de avión).
Yo la escogí porque tiene buenos precios y además te permite entrar por un país y salir por otro sin apenas diferencia de coste (entré por Uganda y salí por Rwanda).

Hola a todos he estado desde el principio leyendo todos los relatos enviados por Galyna y finalmente nos hemos animado 2 parejas para hacer este viaje del 26 de julio al 13 de agosto.
Me pese en contacto con Virgo diciendola que queriamos alquilar coche y guia durante la estancia, nos dió precio de 100 usdxdia. Me envió un mail con el itinerario a seguir todos los días y me pareció todo escesivamente programado ¿es así? pues nosotros huimos de los viajes así. Sé que en Africa un esceso de improvisación se pude pagar con problemas pero tampoco queremos un viaje de agencia con todo progamado, es decir que si nos apetece quedarnos mas días en algun lugar pues que exista esa flexibilidad.
Por cierto Italica he estado viendo los vuelos y creo que vamos a reservar con Egipt Air via El Cairo por unos 840€ impuestos incluidos, ¿es mas barato con KLM?

Una de las condiciones que le puse yo a Virgo fue la de poder cambiar el itinerario sobre la marcha, y no me puso ningún problema. Ellos se basan en el itinerario que quieres hacer para calcular los kilómetros y el combustible, pero eso no va a cambiar si quieres quedarte una noche más o menos en algún sitio. A ver..... Supongo que has leído el itinerario que yo hice ¿no?
Ellos no me programaron nada, yo les mandé un borrador de lo que quería, y entre los dos lo definimos.
Eso es lo que YO programé en un principio, y ellos me ayudaron a ajustarlo, ya que son los expertos y saben los tiempos de desplazamiento de unos lugares a otros, porque, desde aquí, tú crees que de un sitio a otro llegas en 3 horas, y luego resulta que necesitas 7. Pero todo a expensas de que podía modificar lo que quisiera. Claro está, que como algunas "bandas" me las reservaron ellos para las fechas que yo les dije, eso era inamovible, o perdía la reserva.
Al igual que tú, pensaba que iba a cambiar todo el planing, y luego no fue así. Todo se ajustaba perfectamente a lo planificado, no eché en falta estar más o menos en un sitio u en otro, estuvo muy bien tal y como habíamos programado.
Si tu idea no es reservar bandas (cabañas), sino llegar a los sitios e ir reservando, entonces puedes permitirte la libertad de planificar lo que quieras, el coche va a estar dispuesto para ti.
De verdad, no te preocupes por eso porque podrás variarlo, aunque creo que es prudente reservar algunos alojamientos. Por ejemplo, en Murchison Falls estaba todo lleno (gracias que lo teníamos reservado), y en Kibale Forest también son muy coquetas las bandas y es conveniente reservar. En el resto, decidíamos cuando llegábamos, por lo que era totalmente factible improvisar.

Nos abordan varias dudas:
¿No serán demasiados días? Quiero decir que sea muy agotador.
Hemos visto que Galyna estuviste 13 días y qe Itálica vas también 12 o 13 por eso hemos pensado que 16 sea agotador.
¿Que nos comentais de las Islas Ssese? No hemos visto que inguno hableis de ellas y no sabemos si será una forma de dar una gran vuelta sin que aporte demasido al viaje.

A mí me parece bien el itinerario y no creo que sean demasiados días. El único motivo por el que no estuve más días es porque no tenía más vacaciones, pero me hubiera gustado.

Viajerotala, finalmente también he conseguido reservar con Egypt air mediante una agencia. Efectivamente la clave está en que con Entebbe sólo enlazan dos días por semana, (creo que martes y sábado), y si no atinas en el buscador.......

Respecto a los días de viaje, coincido con Galyna. Yo he planteado esos días por temas económicos y de vacaciones. Aunque alguna agencia me ha dicho que con 8 días es suficiente, a mí nunca me parecen demasiados días. ¡¡ya que estás allí.....!!

En un enlace que realicé en 2001 nos pagaron una noche de hotel y nosotros añadimos una más para poder hacer una mini-visita. Nos cobraron por el visado y por la segunda noche. Aunque hubiera sido una sola noche también te obligaban a sacar el visado, al menos en el 2001, no se si esto puede haber cambiado.

Day 1:- 26th July 2008 - Arrival in Uganda at 3.45 am,
Optional:- Kampala City tour before transferring them to the airport for check in. There are also other activities in Entebbe like visiting the Ngamba Island for the orphaned chimps (optional 80$ per person), and it can be combined with Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (the former Zoo) There is also Botanical Gardens at 10$ p.p.n.
Day 2: 27th July 2008 - To Murchison Falls NP
Early morning we will pick the you from the Hotel or Guesthouse of your choice and drive to Murchison Falls. Have Lunch in Masindi, From Masindi we drive for 90 kms through the park before we reach Paraa in the late afternoon. Here we will stay and with a cool drink and a fabulous view over the river Nile the evening will come with all the noise of an African night.
Driving time: ± 7,5 hours

Day 3: 28th July 2008 - In Murchison Falls NP
This day we have the impressive launch trip on the Nile to the Falls. Hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, elephants and many birds will be seen!! For the game drive we have to cross the Nile, special are here the lions and giraffes.

Day 4: 29th July 2008 - In Murchison Falls
Early morning the boat will take us downstream to the delta. The place where the Nile enters Lake Albert. This trip of 5-6 hours will show us all the beauty of this national park especially the delta with all the different birds. Here is a good chance to see the elusive Shoebill stork! In the afternoon is a visit to the top of the Falls, a wonderful view.

Day 5: 30th July 2008 - To Kibale Forest
Early morning departure for the journey to Kibale Forest. We will pass close to Lake Albert, on a clear day the view from the top of the Albert rift is spectacular. In the afternoon we will arrive at the top of the Hill overlooking the crater lake where we will stay. The Crater lake is called Nyabikere and it is famous for the frogs, at night they will give a beautiful concert. Some times we also stay in Kibale Forest, sleeping with the noises of the tropical rainforest.
Driving time: ± 8 hours
Simple Accommodation:- Chimpanzee Guesthouse/Banda or Primate Lodge/Simple Banda's (they are self-contained Banda's)
Day 6: 31st July 2008 - Chimp walk
At 08.00 we will start with the 4 hours chimp walk. Also 10 other primates can be seen!! The park is also known for all the butterflies and birds. In the afternoon a walk through Bigodi Swamp (community based project)
Simple Accommodation:- Chimpanzee Guesthouse/Banda or Primate Lodge/Simple Banda's (they are self-contained Banda's)
Day 7: 1st August 2008 - To Queen Elizabeth NP
Early morning departure for Queen Elizabeth. Via Fort Portal we reach at midday Mweya in Queen Elizabeth NP with a stunningly beautiful view over Kazinga Channel. In the late afternoon we will make a game drive.
Driving time: ± 4,5 hours
Simple Accommodation:- Mweya Hostels (toilet and showers are shared)
Day 8: 2nd August 2008 - In Queen Elizabeth NP
This day is for a game drive on the plains of Queen Elizabeth with thousands of Ugandan kobs, lions, elephants etc. Also on the program is a two hours launch trip on the Kazinga channel where we will see all the animals from the waterside.
Simple Accommodation:- Mweya Hostels (toilet and showers are shared)
Day 9: 3rd August 2008 - In Queen Elizabeth NP
Our second day in this beautiful park. Very early in the morning after breakfast we go to Kyambura Gorge. Here people can go for a 3-4 hour walk in to the Gorge for meeting the chimpanzees. If time allows you will continue to Maramagambo Forest. After Lunch at Jacana Safari Lodge you can go for short and long walks in the Forest. Very nice are the bat caves with enormous population of Egyptian Fruit bats. In the caves live also pythons who are fond of eating these bats!! After you will drive 2 hours to the Southern sector or Queen Elizabeth Ishahsa.

Day 10: 4th August 2008 - To Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast we will drive to Lake Bunyonyi beautiful surrounded by the hills of Western Uganda. Lake Bunyonyi is famous for birds, otters and delicious crayfish. We will stay the rest of the day here, it is possible to swim and try a canoe. Seated on the veranda more then 300 birds species can be seen (bring your binoculars)

Accommodation: Kale-Bas Campsite and Banda's (self contained and breakfast inclusive)
Day 11: 5th August 2008 - At Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi is famous for birds, otters and delicious crayfish. We will stay the rest of the day here, it is possible to swim and try a canoe. You can visit the pygmies, some of the many Islands, or black smith. You can also swim in this Lake.
Accommodation: Kale-Bas Campsite and Banda's (self contained and breakfast inclusive)
Day 12: 6th August 2008 - To Kisoro
Early morning Breakfast and then drive to Kisoro. From Bunyonyi the bad road takes us through a beautiful landscape called the "Switzerland of Africa". We pass mountains, hills and lakes with cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest. On the last hill the landscape unfolds beneath us, in the vast plane of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo the Virunga volcanoes dominate the view. Down is Kisoro where we will stay in the famous Travellers Rest Hotel. Just outside Kisoro, this unique hotel offers a cozy stay for the tourists, who come to see the endangered mountain gorilla. The hotel, built in a somewhat colonial style, and entirely renovated in 1999, has a comfortable ambiance. In the sixties the famous American ‘gorilla-woman’ Dian Fossey visited Hotel Travellers Rest many, many times to do paperwork, to relax or to meet people. Fossey said about the hotel: ,,It was my second home."

3. Climbing Muhavura Volcano (± 8 hrs; distance 12km; height 4127m; elevation gain 1700m; price 40$ pp)
4. Climbing Gahinga Volcano (± 6 hrs; distance 8km; height 3474m; elevation gain 1100m; price 40$ pp)
5. Sabinyo Gorge (± 4 hrs; distance 6km, no elevation gain)
6. Climbing the Sabinyo volcano (Sabinyo has three peaks, you can climb all three in the same walk, you need to be fit!! ± 8 hrs; distance 14 km; height 3669m, elevation gain 1300 m; price 40$ pp)
7. In Magahinga to the viewpoint and Garama Cave (pygmy cave) (± 4 hrs; distance 1 and 4 km)
8. Bird walk in Magahinga (start at 10 AM, it can take up to 4-5 PM)
9. Several bicycle rides on mountain bikes. From 25km to 50km. The hills can be steep and tough!
10. Cultural village walk (with a local guide walking through the land of the Bufumbira tribe)
11. Walk to Lake Mutanda. Visit Python island and go canoeing on this beautiful lake.

Day 14: 8th August 2008 - - Gorilla tracking in Rwanda
The day of Gorilla tracking. From Kinigi Guesthouse it is 10 minutes by car to the offices of ORTPN. At 6:45 A:M you will be at the ORTPN Offices for pre-briefing and at 7.00 am you will start the trek after finding the Gorillas you will spend with maximum 1 hour. Physically fit is recommended and after tracking you cross back to Uganda.
Drive Time - 2 hours including the border crossing
Accommodation: Travellers Rest Hotel Kisoro (self contained and breakfast inclusive)
Day 15: 9th August 2008 - To Lake Mburo
Early morning departure to Lake Mburo. This is a small but nice park, the only park in Western part of Uganda with impalas and zebras. We will make an evening game-viewing drive.
Driving time: ± 5,5 hours
Accommodation: Uganda Wildlife Authority Banda's (Shower and toilets are shared)
Day 16: 10th August 2008 - To Entebbe
Early morning we will make a game drive/walk. After a late breakfast the last part of the journey will bring us back to Kampala. We will stop in Mbarara for Lunch and then continue, after Masaka town we will stop at the Equator for Tea/Coffee break and buying souvenirs. We will bring you to the Hotel or Guesthouse of your choice
